Hi, is it may better to remove Vivaldi, without deleting user data, and install new?
If you install new there is a setting to disable auto update during install.
I read somewhere you have to backup the file "Local State" from the root directory of Vivaldi but I cant remember why.Cheers, mib

isn't it better to install a standalone version from the desired vivaldi version and copy the most important files (bookmarks and so) to not get a corrupted profile? -
Local State stores the Flags, also some other things like latest used Profile IIR and maybe something else.
I'll add those and leave the user to decide which way to use.
-
I like that too, will add it an let the user to decide whichever prefers.
-
Actually,
I did a Snapshot Downgrade and stick on 5.5Fully on top, but being Standalone so no registry version traces.
Everything works fine and waiting for an equivalent working on 5.6/7 -

Local State
Hi,
I've seen it contains some more important things. There are some or all
chrome://
Settings.Saw
- HW/A status
- Spell Checker
- Backgrounds Apps
- Task Manager Settings, Colums...
- Profiles list
* Window Position - Browser Company management
- Extensions (probably related to internal Chromium specific settings - not investigated)
So,
That would be also needed to be fully backed up.Pendng to check whether its settings are saved in a new HW/ID or rewritten.

For Mac/Linux would be necessary some feedback by its users.
The Path has to be modified after or can also be done during the installation?

Hi, the user data are always in the home directory, /home/.config/vivaldi or /vivaldi-snapshot for example.
.config is a hidden folder like Appdata on Windows.
The browser is installed in the /opt directory like Chrome or other non system browser.
To change the install or user data path it is some Linux knowledge needed, a regular user don´t do this, an advanced user know already how to do this.
So remove 5.6 and install 5.5 should not be a problem, the user data is not touched.Cheers, mib
