Window is missing the border and drop shadow

And that's the point. It's called Windows (and not Window) because you are expected to have multiple views available to you. Multitasking is much better when you take advantage of this capability. And as big as a 42" display first may seem, you get used to being able to spread out on it after a while.
Don't feed the troll. I fell for him, let him provoke me, got slapped by his moderator friend and he had a good laugh at my cost.
Same will happen to you if he catches you in a bad mood. -

It's been two months... The edges still haven't appeared...
![976598d9-cca6-4fb1-8b02-e3284a74138b-image.png]Since it is possible to change the window property when Vivaldi is running it could be possible to write a Vivaldi loader that launches Vivaldi and then corrects the window style.
-
@Triangulix
With such difficulties, it is easier to migrate to another browser.
Moreover, the latest updates only break the convenience of the browser and add unnecessary functionality. -
@zau4man Vivaldi was great for years. But now development concentrates on other tasks.
Basic things are broken, not fixed for several "stable" versions.
I just don't get it.
Not possible to talk to developers and understand their real mind set.
But ... I still love Vivaldi hmmm. -

The issue is known and on older Windows.
I fixed it for my Windows 10 with a custom,css (ser Stylesheet for Vivaldi UI) with his code:
#browser, .keyboardShortcutsWrapper, .is-settingspage { border: 2px solid darkgray; }
-
@DoctorG The border thing is not my issue.
This was just a general rant about developers not focusing on reliability of the browser.
Instead they care for many new things, despite not being enough ppl for it.
Not clear for me.
But useless post from me, as no one being in charge will read it. Oh well. -
@zau4man
Hi, the border issue is fixed:
No window-borders on Windows olders than 11,
VB-93742.Cheers, mib
-
@mib2berlin Can confirm that. Finally. It took only 4+ months to fix this basic thing. Now, wait few more months maybe, to backport it to v5.6 stable.

@enc0re
Hi, I can understand your frustration partly but this is a optical glitch with low priority.
The developer have to decline what is important and what not.
I reported a bug in August and it is not even confirmed, it is simply not an important issue.
Only for me it is a important issue.Cheers, mib
-
@enc0re There are plenty of much older bugs that have not been fixed yet. These are two of my bugs reported in 2017.
- (VB-32723) Select URL in Downloads Info Panel with Click (Confirmed) (14/9/2017).
- (VB-32724) Download URLs do not wrap (14/9/2017)
-
Dont be funny. Try to compare relevant things. Thing like "Download URLs do not wrap" can't be compared with bug like "Missing window borders". Just search other posts of people, or my posts where I was showing pictures, how cool is working with window without borders. It is definitely not optical glitch, but serious bug.
As I wrote in past, now don't get me wrong, but there are weird priorities and weird testing in V company. If developers are the ones telling which bug is important and which not and not some PM, then they definitely should listen to people which are using their product. And maybe sometimes read the forum.
Generally, developers have sense that only they have the right truth, or how to say that. How to use their product and what is right and what wrong. And we can see that on MS, Apple, Google, how crappy are their products.
I'm writing this everything not because I don't have to do only just complain about everything. I want to be Vivaldi finally, proper working browser out of the box.
My view on this comes from my work as IT Infrastructure guy for one hell big company, where developers are dependent on platform I deliver.
-
@enc0re You missed our point entirely. We are not dismissing that the missing border/drop shadow is important to you, but it is not to us.
The bugs that I report, and publish on my Vivaldi review page, tend to be more important to me.
Everyone measures things with the tape measure of his own views.
-
@Pesala No. You. Missed my point entirely. Btw, I wasn't the only one complaining about missing borders. Even, some other guys posted it weeks earlier than me. So, I'm not complaining about it because it is "my" bug. I even didn't filed bug for it...
Again, working UI elements, Basic UI elements (which window borders, window controls) must be important for every developer, because they are making obstacles to work properly with their software. Like not maximized windows with same background color overlapping each one without possibility to tell where is the edge of one and other window. Or running browser with Native window manager on Linux, where it disappears Min/Max/Close buttons? You still think those bugs are still same relevant than those on your page? For example "CSS Filenames do not Allow Spaces", "Search Engine Icons Disappear", "Alarm Shows Two Notifications" and so on. Nothing of them doesn't make using of browser problematic.
-
@enc0re Pretty sure the window border and drop shadow is fixed now.
-
@Ayespy Yes, I confirmed that. However, it is bugged... Which leads me again to the question of testing.... Well, let's wait for another build.
Just move window a little bit:
-
Just installed the latest stable (5.6.2867.50) and it looks fixed to me! Thanks guys!
-
@eb110americana
Hi, some user report issues with cut off Vivaldi UI in maximized state.
Can you test this, please?Cheers, mib
-
5.6.2867.50 (Stable channel) (64 бита)
This problem is gone -
No issue for me. I'm using 5.6.2867.50 with Windows 10.

Just to throw fuel on the fire here:
I actually liked having no border and would like there to be a (even if it's hidden) setting to get no border back. I tried to use a CSS hack but it didn't seem to work.
