(History of) Vivaldi Feature Requests
-
As I read a lot of articles on the internet I would love to see a feature like the "reader view" in Firefox to natively be a part of Vivaldi.
Keep up the good work guys!
Thanks

Couple of things I have noticed:
[ul]-
I see on the forums a popular feature to add is dragging a tab to a new window, and I also would like to see this.
-
When watching a video in full screen (eg. YouTube) when I tab out and click a link externally, e.g. via discord, it opens a new tab but retains its full screen mode. I can then press escape to exit full screen, but this means when I go back to the YouTube tab, the video is still trying to play in full screen mode, taking up the entire page, yet with a windowed browser. (This problem extends to pressing escape when the full screen video is not in focus, but the browser is [see belowt]

Hope this helps
Thanks,
Ollie. -

It would be great to have the ability to hide folders from the bookmarks toolbar. I want to save bookmarks, but I don't want them (or their folder) to be visible on the bookmarks toolbar.

You can select any bookmark folder as your Bookmarks Toolbar folder. I have just a selection of my most used bookmarks on my Bookmark Bar.

Just place these folders or bookmarks outside the folder you are using as your bookmark bar.

Totally agree. Even just from one PC to another. Literally the only thing holding me back from making Vivaldi my primary browser. I know they've said they are working on it, but it's the only thing I'm waiting for (though I have other requests too).

It would be great to:
- Indented tabs. When i open a link in background, create a new tab 1 level deeper than the current. On firefox there's the addon 'Tree Style Tabs' that does this.
- have more freedom in tab-bar width (i use it on the left). It's min and max limited now, for some reason.
- properly close the panel when using 'show downloads' shortcut twice. Closing it keeps the panel around, only small.
- When assigning shortcuts, if there's a conflict, tell me what the conflict was. Now I have to hunt for the action with the shortcut i want to assign.
But so far, i'm loving vivaldi!

Haven't tested it, but maybe this Chrome extension is useful for you?
"Sidewise Tree Style Tabs"

Agree. I try to keep my addons to a minimum.
A better solution would be to make the Trash button small vertically. Then it can simply move to the right to fit underneath the Close and Maximize buttons. That space it open and wasted at the moment.

1- Allow to click with the middle-button in the "go back" and "go foward" (those arrows on the side of the address bar) to open in another tab, like any other browser.
2- Allow to click with the middle-button to open an browsing history's item in another tab, like any other browser too.
3- Add an option in the Configuration window to clear the cache, since CCleaner appears to not clean Vivaldi's Cache (if it exists).
4- Make an warning when closing the browser while downloading a file. If possible, allow to Vivaldi download in background with reduced RAM usage, and when the download finishes, the browser closes itself like Firefox. -

Hi,
I'd like to have the feature that I can grab a tab and drop it out of the existing window, which will open a new windowRequested roughly a thousand times in both the Forums and the Blog, and currently under heavy development, including a major UI re-write to make it possible.

Features that would make Vivaldi better:
-add an option to edit bookmarks on speed dial screen.
-you should be able to switch between speed dial folders with mouse wheel.
-add a reader mode. -
Really small change that would make my life so much easier:
Be able to drag and drop from the download panel on the left to a webpage.Example: I have to send an image to a friend thought Whatsapp Web, I found an image from Google Images, I have to download the image, open the panel and drag and drop it into the conversation.
Right now I have to open the folder where the file is located for EVERY FILE I want to send. Being able to drag and drop as you can do in Google Chrome or Firefox would be so useful.

There's an extension in chrome store called "download router" I'm using that I would love to see implemented natively and I'm sure people would love.
The idea is setting different default download locations based on media type and/or domain origin. The idea being if I'm downloading content from say 4chan I want all of that in one folder separate from content from say 9gag, and I'd save videos in one folder and pictures to another or keep gifs away from jpgs.I'd also like to see those blank pages that show up for some downloads be ignored or prevented, most of them are good about closing once the download starts but firefox and chrome are both pretty good about not giving them focus away from the current tab. the dialogue shows up in the current tab rather than changing focus. I use a firefox extension to keep blank screen tabs for download scripts from even opening to begin with and it's something I feel every browser should have built in.

Just got Vivaldi and I'm loving it so far. Opera was my favorite browser when I was a kid and I always had so much fun customizing every little thing (I was a weird kid) and I didn't realize how much I've missed that using Chrome and Safari and Firefox over the last several years.
Anyway, this is a pretty useless suggestion but it would be cool if the background of the new tab page had an option for parallax scrolling. Like the iPhone wallpaper effect, so its kind of zoomed in and pans around the full image based on your cursor position. That would look neat and also fix the problem of bookmarks covering parts of the background.

That would be cool, actually. If you download FVD Speed Dial Chrome extension, you can get something kind of like that, where the background moves along with your mouse movements.

@emilcabaj:
It would be great if Vivaldi could display history in a panel.
add panel chrome://history
a voila
it's not super clean or anything but it works for what I know you're doing because I'm doing the exact same thing. -
Please allow syncing settings, favorites, open tabs … makes life easier
