chrome://settings/?search=gtk
It's always been GTK for me as far as I am aware, but still even when context menus are black (which is what I want), the tooltips have gone white since 5.6 update (white is not what I want), but here's my current settings as you suggested:

@scottytrees
Hm, no idea why it is not working for you.
There is also
vivaldi://flags/#enable-force-dark
but this is for content if I understand this correctly.Cheers, mib

Hi, may you read up the thread a bit?You need to open chrome://settings
Cheers, mib

Than you have to use a different browser, many user accept the imperfection compare to the features of Vivaldi.
By the way, chrome://settings is not really secret it work in all Chromium browser even in Edge.
If you use a niche browser you have to accept inconveniences or use Chrome/Edge/Firefox or whatever you want.Cheers, mib

@mib2berlin thanks! Works perfectly!

I managed to fix it too with the guide from @mib2berlin .
It is as before (in 5.5) now. -
The GTK setting in internal settings page is really a nice fix.
One of these hidden gems in Vivaldi. -

Unfortunately no, I tried that too, but sadly that did not fix it. After 5.6 update, when Vivaldi boots up, it first opens an all white window for about 1 second, then shows all black (with vivaldi logo), then loads my default home page. This all happens in about 3-5 seconds. Before the 5.6 update, when I booted up Vivaldi it would display an all black area in the window before taking a few seconds to load in Vivaldi and my default home page. My guess is this white issue starts at teh very beginning as soon as Vivaldi is loaded up.

Hi,
It happens here as well on Windows but since some long, since 5.5 I guess. But I mostly use Snap and maybe there's the need to a Profile refresh since a couple of years.
Will check on a Clean Profile, though there was the bunch of Tabs delaying the startup.
-
@Zalex108 Yeah this happens on the .deb file version on ubuntu 22.04 LTS, but appreciate your reply, hope it can get fixed in the future, still happy to use Vivaldi of course

5.6.2867.40 one day after previous update. GTK setting for dark theme broken again. And address bar drop down menu still completely broken. nothing gets added there except searches (the exact thing i DON'T want there, but haven't figured out how to disable except manually deleting all history containing search engine url)
but no other url, manually typed, from bookmarks or from history is added there.
This is getting annoying. Why are all these errors is 'stable' releases? They should be in snapshots. There a REASON i use the stable repo's.
EDIT, well today's update make everything white again. To fix, switch back from GTK to classic in chrome://settings. Restart. Then switch from classic to GTK. Restart. With 3 profiles or more that's a lovely way to spend your time.
With the address bar drop down i mean the little arrow on the right, which i use all the time to select the pages i most frequently visit. In one profile it contains nothing except typed search history, in another profile it's just greyed out, regardless of any settings. I have settings for it to include Bookmarks, Frequently visited pages, Browser history.

The chrome://settings fixed almost everything for me but when I highlight links the context preview is still light (white background with black text). I can live with it for now since I mostly use the context menu and vivialdi button more often. Hopefully they can fix it.

@garfield1022 worked for me after changing chrome://settings to GTK and restarting
-
@mib2berlin That was driving me crazy - thank you!

I seem to be in perpetual newbie mode with Fedora KDE but overall, I'm MUCH happier using Linux than Windows but once I got it set up and working, I spend more time using it than configuring it.
Vivaldi NEEDS a dark mode toggle for menus, etc in theme settings but the GTK setting addresses Gnome display settings but since I use Plasma, I have to go to a special place to set the GTK theme. In Plasma, go to Settings/Appearance/Application Style and click on "Configure GNOME/GTK Application Style" at the bottom. Since Linux is fragmented, you HAVE to be comfortable doing this sort of thing even though it seems to be a real pain.
Any idea if a dark mode toggle will be added to theme settings? There is a place to specify a theme for dark and light mode but NO WAY to tell the dark theme to enable dark mode.

Switching to GTK solved the issue with the menus on Gnome Fedora but websites still detect system mode as white instead dark (I dont have anything set to light mode).
Is there any workaround so sites use their dark version instead white (google, github...)?
Dont want to use vivaldi://flags/#enable-force-dark as it doesnt work ideally.Firefox is behaving correctly, Vivaldi as above. I am new to Fedora and playing with it just second day and trying to adjust things to my liking (thorny path but progressing :D).

That si a bug that Vivaldi does not use the darkmode of Linux Desktop for websites
Bug VB-71802 "Vivaldi is not honoring dark-mode on Ubuntu 20.04.1 (prefers-color-scheme)" - Confirmed, i updated for 5.8.
You can force Vivaldi to simulate dark mode:
open vivaldi://flags/#enable-force-dark and try the values from drop-down (need browser restarts). -
@DoctorG Thanks for clarification, will wait for fix and switch the color of sites manually to dark mode (most of them have button or settings somewhere). The forced dark mode inversion is too aggressive for my liking.

Latest Vivaldi and Vivaldi still not honoring dark mode on Fedora.
