(History of) Vivaldi Feature Requests
-
When I start Vivaldi it opens all previous tabs. The problem is that they do not fresh initially but load with the old (cached) content. I have to open each tab and hit the3 refresh button to get new content.
In the Opera browser this is not the case, the tabs are automatically refreshed when I start the app. -
While those are not the functions I would choose for Rocker, I completely support the call for customizing the rocker gestures.
Many moons ago there was a Firefox extension called MozGest - completely awesome, even better than Firegestures in my opinion. It is no longer supported (and hasn't been for years, honestly, but it was possible to cram it in with a few minor code tweaks).
I too am held back from leaving FF until this one is done. Everything else about Vivaldi is awesome - great work guys!

I have a request/suggestion for the speed dial system:
Allow using more than 6 columns, as quite a lot of people have large enough screens for more columns. Using six columns only also wastes some screen space. Also, an option to resize the speed dial dials would be niceOtherwise, keep up the good work!

Bookmarks Management:
[ol]
- Right Clicking "Add New Folder" when you're already "standing" on an existing folder will open the new folder as a child. (Currently opens at top level and I have to drag it)
- Double-Clicking folder name enables renaming it (currently I have to click the name then go to the folder details panel)
- Hierarchical Display in "Add Bokkmark" panel:
If I have stacked folders such as:
A
AA
AAA
B
BB
the bookmarks panel shows them stacked, but the "add bookmark" dropdown when I want to bookmark a page is flat:
A
AA
AAA
B
BB - And of course - bookmarks synching. You already know this

Thumbnails auto-refresh in speed dial page on new tab, please.
Thanks!

I like Vivaldi because of special features. But I shall to say, that Speed Dial is very poor compared to Operas SD.
- Thumbnail size should be adjustable
- Thumbnail pictures should be changable.
Now I use FVD speed dial extension, but native solution would be more elegant.

A few mouse gesture choices are missing that I use on opera 12 - "go to parent directory", "page up", and "page down" could these be implemented?
Also, will there ever be an option to drag a "find in page" field to a personal bar?
Thank you thank you! Fine browser and is coming along really well :silly:

What I missed the most about the old Opera is the possibility to right click on any bar to personalized it and add or remove button almost anywhere. As far as I know, Opera was one of the first (if not the fist) to add extension and button customized by the community and that's what made me used it at first. Now, we are stuck with chrome extensions and I didn't find any that let me do what my list of Old Opera buttons did.
The customization in Vivaldi is nothing like what Opera once was. I supposed it would be unrealistic to expect such level of customization today. But I'm pretty sure the following features could be add to Vivaldi.
I would like to have the option to open a like in a background tab by default. I usually click on a link "for later" and don't want to leave my current page. The way I browse, I often want to close my current page, then the last open, then the last open, etc., since I don't need them anymore. When you have a lot of tabs, it is not always easy to find the current tab to click on the x. I would like to be able to put a button beside the garbage to close the active tabs. Again, I would like to be able to customized the garbage.

It would be great to see "copy frame address" in right click menu, like in Firefox.

I agree that is a great feature of opera 12. Also in the opera 12 settings the area where all the various functions are that you could drag to wherever you want on the browser window, really make it customizable. I think vivaldi is still developing it's customizing options, don't lose hope just yet

Vivaldi is far and away the best browser around. Everyone I've shown it to switches to it in an instant. You're doing a great job, V Team.
Here's my small request. Currently on Linux, the 'Vivaldi icon' (menu activator) takes up an unnecessary amount of vertical space between the address bar and the window decorations. I'd like to see it moved to the same place the chrome extension icons go. I think it'd be much neater.

Hi! In the first word I want to congratulation to vivaldi team for making one of the best browser nowadays. And i have got some ideas for making this application even more great.
1 - For me every important is speed of my browser. I work on small notebook, I dont need faster pc right now, so i dont want to uprage my pc only becouse of browser. And chrome (oh my god…) and firefox became more and more slow. Mostly becouse of pages that im browsing, but also becouse of not optimazing code so much. I would love to see that in vivaldi browser i can disable all of things i dont need to (or even not instaling these features). I would love to custome my browser in the way that it will become faster. I think that this should be make as soon as it posible, becouse in every version you will have more and more things in that app.
(sometimes, even if i have got some things disabled in option i have got slower browsing, just becouse browser have thousends of things that they checked and load up to check if its on or off - im saying about other browsers)
2. I use my left sidebar to watch youtube or check emails. I think it should be fast and easy way to drag and drop page from main view to side. I know that now it is not so hard (click on plus button, and press enter) but it can be make more easy.
3. Colours of tabs - i love that browser take colour to paint tab, but I cant find way to use my own colour that will be showed in every tab.
-
As I read a lot of articles on the internet I would love to see a feature like the "reader view" in Firefox to natively be a part of Vivaldi.
Keep up the good work guys!
Thanks

Couple of things I have noticed:
[ul]-
I see on the forums a popular feature to add is dragging a tab to a new window, and I also would like to see this.
-
When watching a video in full screen (eg. YouTube) when I tab out and click a link externally, e.g. via discord, it opens a new tab but retains its full screen mode. I can then press escape to exit full screen, but this means when I go back to the YouTube tab, the video is still trying to play in full screen mode, taking up the entire page, yet with a windowed browser. (This problem extends to pressing escape when the full screen video is not in focus, but the browser is [see belowt]
[/ul]
Hope this helps
Thanks,
Ollie. -

It would be great to have the ability to hide folders from the bookmarks toolbar. I want to save bookmarks, but I don't want them (or their folder) to be visible on the bookmarks toolbar.

You can select any bookmark folder as your Bookmarks Toolbar folder. I have just a selection of my most used bookmarks on my Bookmark Bar.

Just place these folders or bookmarks outside the folder you are using as your bookmark bar.

One must have feature would be cross platform syncing of bookmarks and extensions

Totally agree. Even just from one PC to another. Literally the only thing holding me back from making Vivaldi my primary browser. I know they've said they are working on it, but it's the only thing I'm waiting for (though I have other requests too).

It would be great to:
- Indented tabs. When i open a link in background, create a new tab 1 level deeper than the current. On firefox there's the addon 'Tree Style Tabs' that does this.
- have more freedom in tab-bar width (i use it on the left). It's min and max limited now, for some reason.
- properly close the panel when using 'show downloads' shortcut twice. Closing it keeps the panel around, only small.
- When assigning shortcuts, if there's a conflict, tell me what the conflict was. Now I have to hunt for the action with the shortcut i want to assign.
But so far, i'm loving vivaldi!
