Solved Address bar auto-complete has been ruined

@nelliott500 The thread that I linked, that has a first post on August 10, 2015 and has posts all the way until June 21, 2021 sure seems to indicate that this has been a problem since 2015. I don't care if it's a bunch of different technical issues that have caused this multiple times since then, the effect is the same and the problem has been there since 2015.
The fact that they either haven't ever fixed the issue, or they keep reintroducing the issue since 2015 does not give me confidence that they will actually fix it. Hopefully, they actually read these forums and seeing multiple threads on the issue will motivate them to ACTUALLY fix it.
-
I didn't mean to imply that this issue didn't happen in 2015. What I meant was the recent version of this issue started with 5.5.2805.35. It hasn't been an issue for 7 years straight.
I submitted a bug report when I got fed up with the problem a month ago. I've confirmed the issue has been identified and resolved for a future release.
-
@nelliott500 The issue was fixed in Snapshot 5.5.2805.3 as i know.
-
I'm not quite sure I follow. Version 5.5.2805.3 would have been before the issue started in 5.5.2805.35 right?
I can confirm the issue still exists in 5.5.2805.44.
-
@nelliott500 I do not know when the issue started. I test too much different versions.
Check 5.6 Snapshot in a Standalone install , perhaps the issue is gone.
-
@DoctorG There are litterally people in comments saying the issue is still there.
I still have this bug.
On what basis are you saying this issue is fixed?
-
@nelliott500 No I get it, but again, there are posts in that thread from each year since 2015, so it hasn't exactly been working since then either. In fact, it seems like they have "fixed" it at least 2 times, only for it to come back later. I'm wondering if they're using version control at all.
-
I'm not asking when the issue started. I already know it started in 5.5.2805.35 because I immediately noticed the issue and raised it here on the forum.
My point was: you said it was fixed in 5.5.2805.3 but I found the issue starting with 5.5.2805.35 so that's not possible.
Also, I don't see anywhere to download a 5.6 snapshot. I checked the Standalone install page but 5.6 is not available.

I don't see anywhere to download a 5.6 snapshot.

I installed 5.6.2839.3 as a standalone and confirmed the issue is still present. I already can't believe this wasn't caught in testing before 5.5.2805.35 was released but now there have been multiple updates without a resolution. This is now approaching a level of extreme frustration.
VB-92493 is the bug report number. If this has been flagged as fixed there's something very wrong.

2861.3 still doesn't fix it.
it's really good to see the developers are taking this issue seriously.
and don't please tell me to report an issue @DoctorG because i already did, weeks ago; the issue isn't that the devs don't know about it, it's that the PMs don't care about it. -

wait a second, @DoctorG is only trying to help YOU with YOUR issue, a bug can be reported multiple times as there are regressions, in this browser especially I saw bugs getting fixed and reappered multiple times in the years, so if needed, you HAVE to report a bug again when it reappears.
