onenote links not opening in Vivaldi
-
I don't know that this is a Vivaldi issue, but want to see if there is a setting that I might try adjusting>
viv is installed as standalone to a local folder.
I have https links in onenote. when clicking them i get "Unexpected error has occurred" message.
I changed default browser association to Edge and links opened. Change back to Vivaldi, get error message.and, yes, i have tried disabling all extensions and restarting vivaldi.
Any ideas if there is a vivaldi setting that could cause this.?

@astro46 Does Onenote show such error message popup? Or does it happen after Vivaldi has started and tried to open such link?
-
@DoctorG good question. the error message appears in onenote. as if it can't find a browser to communicate with. Again, changing default browser to edge fixed it. of course, i don't want to be using edge.

@astro46 I do not own Onenote, but may be the Microsoft app uses a special protocol to communicate and open links. Bad, i can not tell more.

used to work. something, perhaps vivaldi update, broke it. or, i changed a setting, eg in security, that affects it.
anyone else have an idea about this?

I'm unable to reproduce the problem you described. Opening links with Vivaldi works without issues here. Tested with OneNote for Windows 10 v. 16001 and OneNote for Microsoft 365 ver. 2210, Vivaldi 5.5.2805.44 (64-bit, Standalone) on Windows 10 21H2.
It looks like the issue is somewhere on your end - be it in the OneNote app or your Vivaldi installation. You could try installing another instance as Standalone to see if it also gives this error.

sorry that you put in the time testing vivaldi and onenote. if you read my post again, a possible vivaldi flaw isn't quite what i was asking about.

@astro46 None that I know of. As I said, try installing another instance of Vivaldi as standalone (make sure to check "Make standalone Vivaldi available as default app" during installation), set it as default, and see if you can reproduce the problem. You seem to be the only one experiencing such an issue, so it's hard to say what might be causing it.
