Progressive Web Apps
-
I've looked but cannot find an answer to my problem.
I'm using Vivaldi 5.5 and Windows 11.
I cannot create Progressive Web Apps. Vivaldi help says to right-click on the tab and there should either be an "Install [website name]" option or a "Create a shortcut" option. I can't find either one.
I get:
New Tab
Reload Tab
Clone Tab
Pin Tab
Move Tab
Periodic Reload
Mute Tab
Bookmark Tab
Bookmark All Tabs
Save 1 Selected Tab as Session
Stack Tabs by Hosts
Hibernate Background Tabs
Close Tab
Close Other Tabs
Close the Tabs Above
Close the Tabs Below
Reopen Closed Tabs
Open in Evernote*
Customize . . .*Open in Evernote took me to Microsoft Edge where I already had a progressive web app and which has been my default program. I changed my default browser to Vivaldi and deleted the Progressive Web App created with Edge. Then I closed Edge. Even still, "Open in Evernote" took me to the progressive web app in Edge.
I must be missing something simple. Why isn't this working for me?
Thank you in advance for your help!

@mcl Works for me with 5.5.2805.42 Win 10.
Please scheck settings for context menu:
Open Settings → Appearance → Menu Customisation →
Scroll down drop-down menu to Tabs → Tab
In list Content scroll down, ther should be an entry[All Progressive Web Apps ]
If that is missing hit _ Restore Default Menu_
Close settings -
@DoctorG It's there:
I'm running Vivaldi 5.5.2805.42.
The only difference seems to be Windows 11.
Anyone else have this problem? Or was I the only one silly enough to move from Windows 10 to 11 (which I kind of regret)?

@DoctorG For good measure, I clicked on Restore Default Menu, and then closed and re-opened Vivaldi. Still can't create a progressive web app.

//edit: Hover the tab in tab bar and select context menu!

@mib2berlin I'm really starting to feel stupid, but:

@mcl If someone could just show me that I'm being blind, I'd rather suffer the embarrassment than not be able to use the function. But I don't think I'm missing anything . . .
-
@mcl You have to hover the tab in tab bar and then use context menu!
Sorry i forgot that in my post. -
@mcl
If you "Install" a tab as PWA already the entry disappear from the tab context menu.
If you cant see it in any way check with the guest profile.
In my Vivaldi 5.6 install it called "Install name of the page" and "Create shortcut" it´s a bit strange.Cheers, mib

@mcl you can see which apps/pwa are installed in Vivaldi by opening
vivaldi://apps
in address field. -
@DoctorG Well, I am THOROUGHLY embarrassed AND GRATEFUL!!! I clicked to see what apps had been installed in Vivaldi, and sure enough, Evernote, the one I was trying to install, had already been installed. I neglected to pin it to the start button or to the task bar.
Thank you everyone for putting up with my blindness. You've all demonstrated such kindness. I can't thank you enough!
