Address bar fixes – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 2817.3
-
I see by doing the sneaky "biscuit maneuver" for the status bar (the only way to tell these days) that we also have Wednesday's Chromium bump:
106.0.5249.113

still cycles through unrelated stuff for several seconds
Several hundreds of milliseconds for me.
But enough for navigation to the wrong website. -
@ender85 by the way, bug reproduces for me only when I type first two letters of address fast. If I make a pause between them - no cycling. So it looks like browser begins processing of first letter after I pressed second one. Also it have some relation to amount of data stored in browser - I can't reproduce bug with fresh profile.
-
Oooh - my other request (after the import of mail files) is also included: create local accounts.
I tried the import of missing Thunderbird messages last week and it crashed up my test profile - I have a week off now so should find time for some more testing...

What about Click-to-call?
Not working for 4 (!) years now. -

Click-to-call
You mean tel://… URLs?
-
@mib2berlin Sorry for the delay. I've reported it as VB-92195.
-
NP, is already confirmed in the tracker but not by me.
Cheers, mib

@DoctorG Yes.
For example: Google Search and when you click on the phone number, it is not functioning. -
@Vort For me it reproduces even if I type slowly, just slightly differently: if I wait between each keystroke, it just cycles twice for every keypress.
Anyway, here's a video of the problem as it's happening for me: https://nc.simoncic.si/index.php/s/MiYHXmxMcee6Yx9
The OS is Windows 11 22H2 22621.521

I wasn't expecting a new Snapshot so soon
[Spatial Navigation] Iframe support (VB-5038)I am also thinking if this means spatial navigation ill start being way more usable (right now it dances rather unpredictably on lots of sites)?
-
@felagund Yeah not actually sure how much improved it is. Doing some testing I don't note much difference from before.
https://iframetester.com/?url=https://sdf.org
https://ubbleai.github.io/iframe-tester/I'm not able to access the links inside the frame. Sometimes it crashes too. So I'm sticking with my custom spatial navigation extension for now - it doesn't actually support navigating in iframes either, but works much better than Vivaldi's.

sooo...
[Mail] Ability to create local accounts (VB-91506)
Does this just mean that we are saving some clicks when creating an offline account by adding a new button? (if so, why do we call it local account then and not offline account ... or vice versa?)[Mail] vivaldi.net mail oAuth support (VB-89831)
interesting move - what's coming? -
I'm having a couple issues that I noticed start with this snapshot. One minor, one fairly serious. Unfortunately, I haven't picked up any pattern for these yet.
The minor one:
I have my 'Close Tab Activation' set to 'Activate Right in Tab Order'. Most of the time this works. Very rarely after closing a tab, the activated tab is the rightmost tab.The serious issue:
When starting Vivaldi, the browser opens to the Speed Dial. But instead of any of my Speed Dials showing, I just get a blank page tab. The Theme Backround shows up. As does the Speed Dial header bar. But all my Speed Dial Folders are missing from the header bar, as well as all the actual Speed Dial icons. All that shows up are the standard 'Bookmarks', 'History', 'Notes' and 'Calendar options. I have a pinned tab that I am unable to select. I have thousands of bookmarks, so I would guess that something is hanging on loading up the bookmarks. But it just seems to hand endlessly. I have to close the browser (even the close button doesn't respond immediately either). After starting the browser again, it seems to work okay.Anybody else having an issue starting up the browser?

I didn't quite see what was happening, but I think I can reproduce it now.
The real issue appears to be that when you re-open a closed tab, the closed tab does not re-open in its previous position as it normally does. The re-opened tab opens at the rightmost tab position. So that's why it seemed like I was randomly jumping over to the rightmost tab after closing a tab.

Verified, I still get the autocompletes for suggestions as well on 5.6.2817.3.

[Mail] Ability to create local accounts (VB-91506)
Does this just mean that we are saving some clicks when creating an offline account by adding a new button? (if so, why do we call it local account then and not offline account ... or vice versa?)I was definitely not able to create an offline account before! AFAIK you always had to give "real" account settings during account creation or the setup would never finish. For the first time today I was able to make a test account without connecting to a server, then I imported a mailbox(*) into it. It still needed a fictional e-mail address before it let me continue setup (I used [email protected]), but at least it didn't request server details then fail to complete when it couldn't connect to the (no longer active) account.
(*) So I confirmed that mailbox import works... but it assumes that an imported file will be a single message - the last snapshot froze after I imported a 50MB Thunderbird mailbox - today I tried importing an Opera mailbox containing four messages and as I suspected the result is a single message with four sets of headers and content in it.
