@carlinhosnewstyle Good
Please also post bug-ID here. Maybe someone can confirm, and it's good for keeping track.

@Pathduck What arrived in my email was this.
VB-91452
is correct? -
Guys, another problem was found now when I access my Whatsapp Web when I go to view a video a dead bird appears like the image below:
-
@carlinhosnewstyle Vivaldi's Crashes in Whatsapp Web are a known bug and related to some broken videos sent by iPhone users.
-
@carlinhosnewstyle Confirmed for 5.4 Stable.
But video works in 5.5.2770.3 Snapshot. -
@DoctorG Why work videos in Edge browser, firefox and Chrome?
There would be an explanation why I don't want to leave vivaldi. -
@DoctorG How long will it take for the new version to come out?
-
@carlinhosnewstyle They have their own video codecs, had paid annual licences to codec rights owner.
Vivaldi is a small company, has a small team, and can not afford paying much licence fees for codecs and each(!) browser installation. The dev team uses the Microsofts partly broken interface to installed Windows codecs. And some reappearing issues or tab crashes come from core changes done by Google Chromium devs. And some are bugs in Vivaldi. -
@carlinhosnewstyle No timeline for a fix yet. Sorry.
-
@DoctorG Thanks for the explanation, I appreciate your attention.
-
It's been more than 10 days, still no fix! Will I have to use another browser? which one do you suggest is safe?
-
Good afternoon, does anyone have any news about the bird that appears when I view an image?
I'm on the new version of vivaldi 5.4.2753.51 (Stable channel) (64 bits) the bird still appears. -
@carlinhosnewstyle There is no point nagging. You already had good answers. It is apparently fixed in the latest Snapshot, so just wait for the next 5.5 Stable release, or install the Snapshot as a Standalone version.
- 5.3 was released on June 1st
- 5.4 was released on August 10th
- 5.5 will be released when it is ready.
-
@Pesala Would the Stable version or the Snapshot be more advantageous for users?
Since Snapshot has updates and fixes faster?
what's the ideal? -
@carlinhosnewstyle said in I can't see the video.:
Would the Stable version or the Snapshot be more advantageous for users?
Since Snapshot has updates and fixes faster?Snapshots are testing versions, with bugfixes, may be new bugs, may be new features, sometimes dataloss - only for very encouraged users! No guarantee for maximum stability.
Your risk!

@DoctorG Thanks!
-
@carlinhosnewstyle I always want users to know the risks with a Snapshot
-
@DoctorG Can you answer me a doubt? I chose to install the Snapshot version, put my longin and password for my vivaldi account in the browser to have all my bookmarks and passwords saved.
Because it's a Snapshot version, am I safe with the passwords saved in the browser? -
@carlinhosnewstyle
Hi, I use the snapshot as daily driver and the stable as standalone install for testing user issues.
The passwords are encrypted with your Windows ID, doesn´t matter if it is stable or snapshot. Vivaldi sync is encrypted on the Vivaldi server and only the user can decrypt it.
Keep in mind to not install the snapshot over the stable version and use the standalone option as @DoctorG mention.Cheers, mib

@mib2berlin Glad to know that my passwords saved in the browser are protected as I have the password encrypted.
I see a lot of Malware that can access the passwords saved in the browser, that's why I asked the question if I'm safe.
