I heard you wanted a Friday snapshot – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 2797.3
-
@Apocolypto These unwanted bookmarks may be being downloaded from the synchronization server. To cure this, one would delete the offending material, clear trash, and then use the setting under sync to "Reset Remote Data." If you do this, you will have to chose a new 12-character encryption password. Make sure it is something you can remember or write it down. After you reset remote data, and after all of your local data is once again uploaded, you will need to go to your other device, log out from sync, and log in again. When you do it will log in but want your new encryption/decryption password. Be ready to input that.

On this release, upper bar doubled (see French group)

@ketalar
Hi, this is reported to the Vivaldi bug tracker already, stay tuned.Cheers, mib

Oh, I just noticed that this new snapshot introduced a new experiment
I wonder what it does
-
@AltCode Good find!
I have no idea what it does, I tried enabling it in a clean snapshot install, restarting, and when starting up again the setting was again disabled...
Maybe it's something to do with React portals?

-
@AltCode Our dev said:
new windowing-system using React-portals. (Note this is yet not safe for builds with mail and other sensitive data.) enable through vivaldi://experiments
Beware, some experiments can cause data loss!
-
@DoctorG What it will be used for? The name alone is quite scary, I won't enable it for sure
-
@Hadden89 Do not use it, it is very, very, very experimental and unstable.
-
@DoctorG Good thing I didn’t enable it. I too found the name and info to be rather frightening.
-
I heard you wanted a Friday snapshot
Yes, also a drop-down bookmark menu please
-
The old annoying problem is finally fixed!
On a 1st Vivaldi launch you can use arrows keys to select SD thumbnails!This option should be enabled
-
Since the previous two builds smooth scrolling doesn't work unless I enable it in Flags. Anyone else? Windows 11 x64.

One issue that I've had for the last two snapshots is that occasionally I lose the ability to interact with any webpage.
The Vivaldi interface still works. I can switch between tabs just fine. But I can't click on any links or interact with any webpages.
I haven't been able to reproduce it consistently. It doesn't happen very often. Maybe once every couple of days. So far it seems random.
When it happens, the only way to fix the issue is to close the browser and restart it.
-
I seem to no get autocomplete in the address bar from visited sites, suggestions drop down seems to work tho. Anybody else with this problem?

I confirm that such browser behavior happens, but not regularly, which makes it difficult to identify patterns and apparent causes.

@pathduck: "Portals provide a first-class way to render children into a DOM node" sounds like the plot of a Japanese horror movie. Eerie.
-
@herrschreiberbeivivaldi It's those React developers, just won't stop rendering children into portals, even how many times we've asked them to stop it... Won't someone think of the children!?
-
@Pathduck Did someone says „children with a portal gun”?

Sad, export a calendar to ICS file is missing much events data.
Bug reported: VB-91871 "Calendar export misses some data"
As Vivaldi Sync can bot be used for a local calendar, you can to get it onto an other device or re-import in a server-sided calendar. -
