(History of) Vivaldi Feature Requests

Live Session Management, that would've been nice.
Now you can save a session of tabs (strangely there is no hotkey for it) and reopen the whole session later.
It would have been more handy to be able to easily toggle between different sessions of tabs. For instance Work, Home and Study sessions. And instead of like today's option, where you save a full session and have to manually delete a full session, a single tab should be removed from the stored session if it is removed while working in a session. And new tabs should be automatically added.
So a Live session management option, as an alternative to the bookmark like session management that is today.

Option to scale sidebar panels.
I can scale any site with ctrl+'+', ctrl+'-', ctrl+mouse_scroll and so, but it doesn't work inside sidebar panels.
I use them for communicators, todo lists and so on, scaling them down would be very handfull future on smaller screens -
Vivaldi need much more work on memory consumption and work with more tabs. I have two Vivaldi windows with about 30 tabs together and Vivaldi is incredibly slow, responding on clicks is in tenths of seconds and more and pages don't load with "dead-chicken-on-plate" black screens. Whole OS is affected. Vivaldi takes cca 5,5GB of RAM - it is NOT NORMAL!
(And I don't care if other crap browsers has same problem, I use Vivaldi).Win7 64bit, Intel i5, 8GB RAM, desktop and notebook

Just started using Vivaldi and I'm amazed!
I'm not sure if it's in the pipeline already, but it would be really nice if there was a possibility to attach the inspector window to the browser window itself, i.e. not open in a new window. That way it's a lot easier to inspect narrower viewports for responsive websites and it keeps the number of open windows down which reduces the pain of switching windows all the time.

Here are some some features that can be added
- Option to enable/disable Startup Page
- Option to customize URL Bar (like add/remove icons & search bar, icon size adjustment)
- Option to pause and restart downloads
- Option to restart the browser without Extensions Enable (In other words Safe Mode)
-
I used Yandex Browser before and what I like about it was the titlebar-addressbar-combo.
It makes the titlebar more useful than it does now in Vivaldi and it makes a little more space for the webpage. -
I don't understand why this isn't a standard feature in all browsers, but there should be a context menu to search the selected text in all installed search engines. This feature isn't even possible with a Chrome add-on (they can't access the installed search engines).
Here's what my Opera install has:

Hi, im missing this feature in Chrome and Firefox:
In Chrome and Firefox, for (top) bookmark bar, when there are folders, once i click on a folder and move my mouse to another folder, the folder automatically opens.
In Vivaldi, I will to click every folder individually. This is a turn off and inefficient.

I'd like to be able to override the title bar color for some pages. For example, for reddit it displays a gray color with a bit of red, but I'd like it to be light blue. I'd also like the option to automatically switch to a tab opened with "Open in new tab".

I want something others users have already asked: a reader mode, or reading mode. But I want one as flexible as the Firefox and the Readability add-on ones combined. That is, one that lets you choose between at least two fonts, one serif and other sans-serif; two modes, a day or light one (with white background and black font) and a night or dark one (black background and white font); and adjust font size and line length (or text column width). Fortunately, the Readability add-on for Chrome works with Vivaldi, but it would be nice to have this functionality native in the browser.
I also wold like to see a native ad-block functionality, although, again, Adblock Plus extension works here.

@maverick74:
Now, please clarify me: Is Vivaldi 100% opensource??? (this IS very important as well!!! GPL, Linux compatibility and privacy respect are the most important points - i could not find info beside the vivaldi code - but no mention to licence)

@Magnanimus:
Bookmarks panel should remember its last used position. Would be very helpful if the list of so many bookmarks just keeps its last used position rather than resetting itself.
It already does that for me on Vivaldi 1.2.479.8 (Developer Build) (32-bit) for Windows. Which version are you using?
-
@Magnanimus:
Great. I'm with the latest stable (1.1.453.59) release. I'll wait for 1.2 then.
No need to wait, just download it.
-
@Magnanimus:
Yup, I know I can, just not sure I should. I suspect it would be kind of buggy cause it's not really finished product still in development.
Off-topic: Isn't there a setting on this forum to get a notification if someone quotes me?
Stable and dev are mostly kind of arbitrary definitions, in Vivaldi's case just like in Opera's one, the public snapshots are safe enough to be used daily. And if you face some regression which is a dealbreaker for you, you can just go back to the previois snapshot or to the stable version.
You can have also more than one version installed side by side. Either with a shared profile or with independents ones.
As for the forum engine, that feature has never worked reliably and consistently. I hate this forum engine that, thanks God, will be replaced soon.

@MMF22R:
right click on a link, "open in a new BACKGROUND tab" as first option in the menù at the place of "open in a new tab" (not in background.
Or just set up a setting for this … plase.
thx for the excellent work you made guys :lol:Middle click or CTRL+click or gestures

- Option to set max connection per server/ max connection global
- Option to set interface/gateway to bind
-
@Magnanimus:
Any suggestions? :huh:
Personally I'm not an hevvy bookmarks user. But I suggest you to use the bugtracker to point out any regression you may see.
-
@MMF22R:
I already know these trick, but i thinked it was more easy just like "opera was "
Those aren't Tricks. Are normal commands.
Middlebutton was once an unique Opera feature, then was cloned in any browser and tabbed program.
CTRL+Click comes from the days when mac users were so poor that they couldn't afford a second mouse button :lol: , then "infected" the other platforms thanks to the multiplatform programs (Opera included).
On the other hand Opera has never opened a tab in background by default, so what "opera was" are you talking about? :huh:

Please consider using UserVoice, Trello, or any other similar platform that allows searching and voting for feature requests.

It would be great if it would be possible to control the behavior of the history.
Like choosing between "store history", "store history for session" and "don't store history".Also i request the feature to enable/disable Addons in privacy mode. Currently Addons are disabled there, which could be annoying if you use cVIM or other addons which enhances the workflow.
