Sidebar broken after Fullscreen Video
-
I'm on Snapshot version 5.4.2753.3 .
When you open the Browser, the Sidebar (Bookmarks, Mail, Rss etc.) works without a problem.
After you put a Video in Fullscreen mode, it's no longer possibile to open the Sidebar and the little arrow on the left of the screen disappears as well.
The Sidebar is only available again after you close and reopen the Browser. -
@jake_armitage Reported and confirmed earlier
-
Unfortunately not fixed with latest Snapshot 5.4.2753.15 from today.
-
@jake_armitage In case no one reported it, I reported the bug as:
(VB-90802) Panel Toolbar not Displayed after using YouTube Fullscreen
-
Thank you.
I thought as it was discussed in the post you linked, that it was a known bug, so I didn't bother making a (another) bug report.
-
@Pesala Was confirmed by me.
-
Another Snapshot (now even a RC) and it's still broken.
I know that I'm not entitled to any fixes here, but how can such a fundamental function be broken for so many versions?
And it's not like it's only on my end, many have confirmed it and we're getting close to a release. -

Please take some time, read the changelog for such Snapshot and you will see which bug is fixed.

@jake_armitage Confirmed here. Kind of have to agree with Jake. I use this panel a LOT and have missed it being broken lately.
-
@theorist Yes, but if you don't try to show the Panel Toolbar (F4) while displaying a fullscreen video the bug does not manifest, and if you do forget, just restart Vivaldi to fix it.
-
I'm sorry, either I'm misunderstanding you, or that's just not true.
The option to open the Sidebar will always disappear, after watching a fullscreen video. You don't have to do anything at all to trigger that bug besides putting a vid in fullscreen. Also doesn't matter if it's YT, or Twitch or any other site. I never pressed F4 to trigger that bug ever. And it's not like restarting Vivaldi really fixes it, because as soon as you put another vid in fullscreen it's broken again. -
@jake_armitage Disable:
Show Panel Toggle -
I know you're just trying to help and I appreciate that, but, while this is somewhat of a workaround, it doesn't really help that much, as you have to use the keyboard. I know that's a me-problem, but with my keyboard you have to do an FN+F4 everytime which is just annoying. Anyway, the problem is known and I hope that it'll be fixed before the next release. Thank you so much for your help, tho.

@jake_armitage I rarely use F4. I perform a mouse gesture:
- GestureRight, GestureLeft = Panel (My Panels are on the right).
If the Panel Toggle is disabled, the Panel Toolbar remains visible after exiting fullscreen videos, so F4 (or mouse gesture) is not necessary. The Status Bar toolbar button also works if the Panel Toolbar is closed. Again, since my Panels are on the right, I moved the Show/Hide Panel button to the right-hand end of the Status Bar.

@jake_armitage Upgrade to the latest Snapshot.

Works again as intended.
