@Stardust Ooooh, my upvote worked that time, yet 30' ago it was apparently still "yesterday"... somewhere.
probably someone sent you a couple of bonus upvotes

@Aronand Nope, as the daily driven is an Win10 x64, which doesn't have that issue. Not even on previous stable. I can live with that. At least for a while.
As a workaround:
- exit from maximized mode,
- delete closed tab history, and
- get back to maximized mode.

Fixed in the Friday Snappie.

@guigirl Can't wait to see it happen!

Still crashing randomly when going to previous page via back button, mouse back button or keyboard shortcut. Not sure if this happens because of having too many tabs, or having Vivaldi open for too long, or some other reason.
-
so did this bug get fixed, or is it another bug?
-
@theorist It just happened to me on reddit, https://www.reddit.com/r/pcgaming/, I selected "new", it went to https://www.reddit.com/r/pcgaming/new/ then I went back with mouse gesture rclick + left: dead bird. It's random tho, I have just 4 tabs open, including this forum.
-
Seems Spatial Navigation is broken on some sites.
-
@tsunamiz: Got fixed on my end.
-
@iAN-CooG Well, I guess we know that it has nothing to do with how many tabs you have open then. Tho, its strange that it only crashed your tab whereas its crashing my entire Vivaldi instance. One of the admins or moderators, cant remember which, had told me a few snapshots ago that this issue was supposed to be fixed with a Chromium update, but evidently its a completely different issue or they werent able to fix it. It's really annoying either way. lol

Native notifications (Windows 11) are broken in the last few snapshots. This can be tested by installing the both the stable and shapshot Vivaldis. In the snapshot only partially functioning Chrome-type notifications appear, in the stable version they seem to work normally.
I am using this website to test:
https://www.bennish.net/web-notifications.html
Another issue is that the notification is not closed when clicked. The intended behavior should be, let's say you get a notification that's from Reddit, you click it, it should open a new tab with the message/reply etc., and the notification should be closed.
Also these notifications should go in the Action Center (or w/e its name in Win 11) if not clicked, and should be accessible there later on. Clicking them in the AC should work as if you were clicking them when they pop up.
But first, the native notifications must be repaired to work as intended.
Changing the native notifications flag doesn't help, so you cannot force it in the snapshot. -
@t0yz Due to how windows and vivaldi handles notifications, it only works if you have one non-standalone install at a time. It's the same in Win 10. This is a known issue.
-
@LonM I tested in a clean VMware Win11.
On my main PC I only have a snapshot Vivaldi installed for all users, in Program Files. Native notifications still do not work at all.
You can test separately if you wish won't make any difference, the notifications work OK-ish in the stable build (didn't really test in detail, so can't say if every aspect of the notifications works fine). -
@Aronand any news on the similar dead area in native window and full screen modes?
Seems my hopes to find the solution to those in the same code/area were unwarranted.
-
@becm: I haven't been able to reproduce any issues related to native / full screen myself since the fix, so if you do have one, please report a bug and we'll take a look
-
@Aronand after some more testing with
2741.3
on Windows, all mentioned issues ofVB-85069
remain.So the fullscreen part of
VB-90379
has always and continues to be broken for me.
I still can clearly identify the dead space at the edge of the wholeVivaldi
-controlled area. Not sure how to better describe a a workflow to reproduce:
- open page which can be scrolled vertically (vivaldi.net)
- set Vivaldi to full screen mode (F11)
- move mouse to right screen edge, no reaction to scroll, must move some pixels to right to grab vertical slider
- reactivate bookmark sidebar (F4)
- move mouse to left bottom corner, must move some pixels up/right to click "Settings" button
The native window shows the identical issue. On systems that actually support snapping to screen borders, this is a major annoyance.
Any new issues would be a duplicate of that.
-
@becm Alright, thanks! I'll make a bug on each and hopefully we'll have a new fix for those soon
-
i always ask is it me as i modify things buts whats happened to the windows buttons - they are too wide by design and now cannot be modified by css script that was previously working
-
@theorist: I can /always/ tell when it is going to happen...
I have a habit of zooming wikipedia, and if I click on a link and it reverts to 100%, I know that when I click back, it will crash. Happens... every... single... time...
