Chromium bump and several fixes – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 2729.2
-
@Pathduck I have also personal Outlook/Hotmail account. But it's weird. When I have tried again the whole browser has crashed. After restart it seems work fine.
-
@sweetlou6 That's strange. Are you on MacOS? Seems a lot of crashes on that OS lately.
Well, if you can reproduce it from a clean profile, please report a bug.

@Pathduck No, this was on Windows 10 x64. After the previous restart it works fine and I can't find any crash logs.
-
@tsunamiz: its on the todo list, just doesn't have any ETA yet
-
@thot: A potential fix is coming with VB-90430 so keep an eye out for that

Twice today I've had a calendar reminder pop up and have been able to close it or change tabs. Had to killall vivaldi-bin.
Mouse still changes to black pointer.

When Using Link to Highlight, the page scrolls so that the highlighted text is in the middle of the page.
Example: Performance Records
Wouldn't it be more useful to have the highlight positioned at the top of the page?

@Pesala This comes from Chromium, and all Vivaldi did was add an easy way to generate these Links to Text Fragments.

Bug detected: selecting multiple tabs, be it with shift + click or Ctrl + click, sometimes does not work. Instead, what will happen is, the selection outlines will appear for a split second, and then disappear leaving the tab clicked on open.
Problem is, I have non idea how to recreate the problem, it seems to be happening at random for me.
-
@YamiryuuZero This has happened numerous times for me, in more than only this current Snappie. It just gets so exasperating, constantly labouring that boulder up the hill, only for it inevitably to roll back down. Ergo, sig-icon-#4...

I don't remember seeing it mentioned, but I've noticed mail server connection issues on two machines in the last couple of days. Different mail servers, although the most persistent is a socket time-out on GMail.
It seemed worse when another laptop was uploading a lot of stuff - so I'm not sure if it's the snapshot or maybe my flaky old router just needs a reboot.
Edit: hasn't happened today (a day later), so it was probably something to do with my router/ISP after all.

You have to fix the erratic behavior of the mail client concerning filtering and tagging. I've made a dozen changes and still nothing. The worst: I cannot pin out the culprit. There are rules that simply cannot be applied. And then sometimes the same mail client applies irrelevant filters & tags. I suspect that we have a case of AS (Artificial Stupidity). Also, as I've mentioned before, I cannot get it to work properly as default mail protocol when sending mails. When starting from explorer (left click on a file -> send to -> mail recipient) Vivaldi mail is not activated, although I have assigned it (via settings -> apps -> default apps) as the default mail client and (via settings -> apps -> choose default apps by protocol -> mailto (url:mailto protocol) -> Vivaldi) the default app to handle this protocol. All suggestions are welcome.

Is there a fix for VB-87278 in this snapshot? I can't find any status updates regarding this and wanted to ask here.
If not, is there any plans for it to be fixed?
-
@altux The Bug Status Thread is the right place to ask. No ETA is usually given, but bugs are usually fixed in the latest Snapshot first. Install that as a Standalone version.
Install the Snapshot as a Standalone Version so that it does not interfere with your settings for the Stable release.

@altux Duplicate of VB-49692 "Windows not resized/repositioned when disconnecting an external monitor" - Confirmed, assigned to a dev.

A new Snapshot has been released. Have a nice weekend, everyone!
