Solved Unable to delete e-mail account
-
@gmg I performed those steps and still have the same error when I open mail.
-
@gmg Hello,
It worked for me :- Close Vivaldi
- Delete the indicated folder
- Restart Vivaldi
- Delete the "Deleting..." stuck account : success
- Setup the account : success, the mail tab opened
Thanks !
-
So I guess I will try deleting the accounts, following the procedure and then re-adding them.
-
@gmg - Now I am stuck with the "deleting accounts" problem.
Curiously the IndexedDB directory did not get recreated after I removed it. I also didn't see anything that looked mail related in it. -
We've found the issue that was cauings this now. Working on a fix.
Question @etrice did a new one not get made on restart?
-
@gmg It finally did get created after I logged into a website.

They also found a fix and a workaround https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/76448/mail-client-start-failed-error-typeerror-gmail/4?_=1654921115305

They found a bug that prevents deleting accounts. See here for a workaround
You are deleting the account - Did you not like the mail client (if so, can you say why?) or do you have other reasons?
-
I am deleting an account because I was not able to properly add it. Got no opinion on the Mail as I was unable to try it yet
-
@rromanov ah. if you manage to properly delete the account and decide to try again and it doesn't work again, it would be interesting to hear what you see to narrow down that issue too. Or otherwise if you have set it up and have some questions, of course.

Same problem:
Mail client startup failed. Error: TypeError Cannot assign to read only property '1' of string 'Flags'All I did was try to add the standard Vivaldi feed for testing and now I have that error and duplicated feeds that it won't allow me to delete. I haven't tried adding an email account.
The only odd thing I did was to inadvertently add an empty feed first which was added with what looks like a unique identifier number even though there was no value in the URL field.

@WildEnte the solution you proposed, worked, thanks for the help. I've managed to delete the stuck account and re-add it. Seems to be working ok for now.

Several threads appear to have been combined here so it is a little confusing. I have updated to the new version this morning and followed the steps for deleting the IndexedDB dir as pointed out by @gmg but my accounts are still stuck in the "deleting" state. I have restarted the browser many times. I even tried disabling mail for awhile but the accounts are still stuck in the "deleting" state. Any ideas?
-
I also still have my original problem of:
Mail client startup failed. Error: TypeError Cannot assign to read only property '1' of string 'Flags'
-
@etrice
Fix should be out in next build. It's probably best to just wait for that one for now. Hopefully only a couple of days at most -
@gmg - thank you
-
Thanks @jdanois - that just brings up the same deletion dialog for me as the minus button does.
-
@jdanois Hi, welcome her!

Error: TypeError Cannot assign to read only property '1' of string 'Flags'
That is an error that is displayed on the bottom bar in the browser.
