Trouble streaming radio station after V5.3

Hi,

I tried listening to Radio X, one of Global's radio stations in the UK. I normally listen through the globalplayer website. I can connect to the site and pick the station, but when I press play the play button it just spins and never connects.

Vivaldi version: 5.3.2679.38 (Stable channel) (64-bit)
OS: Windows 11 Version 21H2 (Build 22000.708)

This was working prior to V5.3.

Things I've tried :-
Turned off all extensions.
Turned off add blocking and tracker blocking.
Private window.
Guest Profile.
Standalone copy of Vivaldi.
I've even uninstalled Vivaldi, deleted the folder and reinstalled.

None of these made any difference.

I can listen to this station through the website using Microsoft Edge on the same PC. Various other video streaming sites all works as normal, it's only Globalplayer that's not working (that I've found so far).

On a Windows 11 and 10 Home versions, using Vivaldi browser newest version (Vivaldi.5.3.2679.38.x64), I can't listen to some radio and music web streams. I have no issues with version Vivaldi.5.2.2623.48.x64. After update to version: Vivaldi.5.3.2679.33.x64 some web radio streams do not produce audio. Examples of addresses that don't produce audio:

• www.wnyc.org/radio/
• player.streamguys.com/classicalking/evergreen-3/sgplayer/player.php

In other browsers (Chrome/Edge) streams produce audio without issue. I went through steps for troubleshooting issues and still could not make the stream produce audio in version 5.3.

I will continue to use old version until solution with newer version is found.

@acruzworkacct Works for me on Windows 11.

Please check if Vivaldi Blocker (click on shield in address bar) block too much.
Try Private Window mode (Ctrl+Shift+N).

Try clearing browser cache for all time.

Thank you for your suggestion. As mentioned before, I went through steps for troubleshooting issues, including Delete Browsing Data (All Time). It's a bit frustrating that you recreated the issue and were able to find a solution on your side. No worries, I will wait while using the outdated version.

These audio streams fail to create sound as the streams are encoded with paid/licensed AAC codecs which is not free and can not be used by Vivaldi
That is a Windows-only issue, on Linux the streams play nice.

WKAR.org site wont play music or news streams. Just updated Vivaldi 6-9, disabled all extensions, etc. It works if I use Tunein through Vivaldi, but not if I go directly there

That suggests it may be the "AAC codec" problem reported in

@grablfratz A known issue with AAC encoded audio. As is know, a fix is in work.

Works with Vivaldi on Linux.

@TbGbe Will be nice to have a fix. I hope Siriusxm bug gets fixed sometime, too. Sirius XM has never worked.

I have the same problem. Just noticed it today. Station i Classic FM, provided by globalplayer.com Used to work with 5.2, but 5.3 just hangs.

@rlebleu I can not test, this player needs a registration.

Please check 5.4.2729.2 Snapshot with Standalone Installation, this version has got some fixes for audio stream decoding.
