What are Webview render processes?
-
I believe this is a new thing in Chromium 102, at least I can't remember ever seeing it in earlier V versions:
I've seen it for other sites as well, but not sure how to trigger it.
Possibly something about using zoom and changing the viewport? Does it trigger for only some sites?
Can the site control if a browser uses "Webview" or regular tabs?A web search only finds references to "Android Webview".
Does anyone have any technical insight?

@Pathduck These are webpage instances/tabs with a webpage. Think that’s been visible in the task manager for some time, but maybe I can’t recall correctly.

Thanks for the reply, didn't even know if I'd get anyone to bite
@luetage said in What are Webview render processes?:
These are webpage instances/tabs with a webpage.
Not sure what you mean by that
For instance, what is the difference between these:
Looking at the cmdline of these processes, there's zero difference in arguments.

@Pathduck Seems to be switching randomly. High possibility this is some sort of quantum browsing. An instance can be either webview or tab, but you don’t know until you open the task manager. At this point the first instance becomes tab, while the second instance will be webview, or vice versa.

@luetage So its like Schrodinger's Cat?
I would be very tempted to disable it. Never noticed it before either. I seem to have something called "Spare Renderer".
Got to do some more research. -
@Pathduck Meanwhile, elsewhere on The Island of Dr Moreau...
