Regression in latest snapshot and stable in Home Assistant (HA) .
-
Hi,
snapshot is 5.3.2679.16 .
stable 5.2.2623.48.Issue:
in Home Assistant (HA) you can adjust the UI by adding new entities.
This does not work anymore in stable since quite some weeks, but worked fine in snapshot until last night.
With the latest update today it broke it as well.Steps to reproduce:
- Open HA page of your local HA instance.
- In upper right corner (3 dot menu) select configure UI.
- hoose one of the cards, and open its modify dialog.
- Try to add a new entiti. (it is sufficient to type just a portion of the name, you get a list of entities with that portion, the list gets shorter as you type). Select one entiti of the list by clicking on it.
- Expected behavior is that the new entiti shows up in the list of active ones (perhaps with its friendly or translated name). But this does not happen.
I offer my help to the devs in hunting this (I am a software engineer). Just let me know.
Many regards, Dieter Fauth

@fauthd How can we test this?
Any demo account?

Home Assistant
I had absolutely no idea what this was, til i searXed it. OMZ, tis something i would never use, so... it will be interesting to see how many / any Snappiers would be able to help, for a product so esoteric.
The only suggestion i have, before bowing out, is the obvious one; can OP verify the symptom also in a clean test profile?
vivaldi-snapshot --profile-directory="NewTestProfile"

@fauthd
What is Home Assistant (HA)?Can you provide the Linux distribution you are using and the name of the desktop (for example, I use Arch Linux, LXQt desktop).
The more detailed the context information you provide, the more helpful others will be in analyzing the problem. It would be better if you could attach screenshots or animations.

@fauthd Had you checked with a test profile (close welcome page without making settings in V.)?
Does it work in Chrome 102?It is not easy to check without knowing how the UI of Home Assistent works.

Hi Guys,
thanks for the many answers!
Works in Chromium Version 101.0.4951.64 (Official Build) snap (64-bit) on Ubuntu 20.04.
Works with Android stable Vivaldi (cannot lookup the version, current as of today 2022.05.28).
(Worked in all older Vivaldi versions)Sorry, I thought Home Assistant is more commonly known, it is a home automation software.
HA siteI use Kubuntu 20.04 (KDE). Also showed up with Gnome on another machine as well (after the upgrade to latest snapshot).
I will create a screen cast, but will probably be next week.
Will also test with a fresh profile later today. Thanks a million! Dieter

@fauthd Had you tried with Chrome/Chromium 102.0.5005.63?

vivaldi-snapshot --profile-directory="NewTestProfile"
Produces the same behavior.
Will now check whether there is a Chromium PPA for Ubuntu.

Chromium 102.0.5005.63
Tested with Chrome Version 102.0.5005.61 (Official Build) (64-bit), fresh install on Kubuntu 20.04.
Same behavior as Vivaldi. So it looks like it is an upstream issue. Thanks for all your help.
Dieter
PS: Reported to chromium issues as Issue 1330078: Regression with Home Assistant.
Will also open an issue for HA. Perhaps the bug is there.
