When closing one window, all other windows are also closed
-
I downgraded and tested 6 different versions of Vivaldi:
5.1.2567.57 works without this bug!
5.1.2567.66 works!
5.1.2567.73 works!
5.2.2623.24 has this bug!
5.2.2623.26 has this bug!
5.2.2623.33 has this bug!It looks like that the version 5.2+ broke. No doubt!
The old version 5.1- has no problem closing any one of all windows, the rest of the windows remain as my expectation.
Vivaldi team, can you investigate what is the difference between both versions, why the version 5.2+ breaks it?

Yes, right.
I will correct this major version -
The difference:
5.2.2623.24 is Chromium 100.0.4896.81
5.1.2567.73 is Chromium 98.0.4758.141 -

Chromium Version 100.0.4896.88 has no issue according to my many tests.
I guess the issue is related to default Vivaldi GUI. -
@zesko I can not test, have only single-monitor.
But you should report the issue for a test by Vivaldi devs with all the steps.
Please report bug to Vivaldi tracker -
@doctorg said in [BUG] Close all windows when closing the second window:

It has the same issue in the single-monitor, that I already tested.
I mean, you repeat the same test, then you would notice. -
@doctorg said in [BUG] Close all windows when closing the second window:

I reported the bug: VB-88370
-
@zesko I will try.
-
Steps to reproduce:
- Using KDE any version with X11 or Wayland
- (Using the single monitor or the dual monitors)
- Open a new window of Vivaldi
- Create a new tab (two or multiple tabs are in this window)
- Drag and drop (move) any tab into the (second) monitor to create a new window.
- Close any one of all windows.
- See if all windows are gone?
- If no bug, then try to repeat step 3 to 9 a lot.
- If yes bug, it closes all windows automatically. <-- BUG like killing all processes of Vivaldi.
- Once the bug appears, then it will always remain until PC reboot.
- After restart PC, the bug is gone.
- But the bug will appear when you repeat step 3 to here.
-
Sorry to say, i can not reproduce it with 5.2.2623.33 Manjaro 21.2.5 KDE
Operating System: Manjaro Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 5.24.3
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.91.0
Qt Version: 5.15.3
Kernel Version: 5.15.28-1-MANJARO (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: X11
Processors: 2 × Intel Core i5-7500 CPU @ 3.40GHz
Memory: 3.8 GiB of RAM
Graphics Processor: SVGA3D; build: RELEASE; LLVM;Which Manjaro version do you have? Or do you use a Unstable? If yes, from where can i get a install iso to test?

Sorry late answer.
I am using the testing branch.
I can not reproduce it in VM in the same device and Gnome in other device.
But I guess that this issue is maybe to related to CPU that works too fast. (it would be like deadlock problem when many processes are running in the conflict) -
I can not reproduce this issue in Live ISO on the same device.
Back to the device, but I do not get the error log from
journalctl
, there are the warning messages of Kwin:Apr 14 18:41:27 zesko kwin_x11[1132]: qt.qpa.xcb: QXcbConnection: XCB error: 3 (BadWindow), sequence: 37056, resource id: 90177543, major code: 18 (ChangeProperty), minor code: 0 Apr 14 18:41:27 zesko kwin_x11[1132]: qt.qpa.xcb: QXcbConnection: XCB error: 3 (BadWindow), sequence: 37081, resource id: 77594627, major code: 15 (QueryTree), minor code: 0 Apr 14 18:41:28 zesko kwin_x11[1132]: qt.qpa.xcb: QXcbConnection: XCB error: 3 (BadWindow), sequence: 37183, resource id: 33554640, major code: 18 (ChangeProperty), minor code: 0
All windows of Vivaldi are closed when the warning message of Kwin: "QueryTree" appears.
But this warning message does not exist in Live ISO and VM.
I reset all KDE config and deleted cache in home directory, but no luck.
It looks like conflict between Vivaldi 5.2 and KDE system.
Vivaldi old version 5.1 has no issue.

Yes, but 5.24.3 Plasma works for you?
-

No, it does not work after switching to the stable branch.
-
@zesko Weird issue on your side.
I will try tomorrow with NVidia on my other office PC. -
I found the some issue with "org.bluez" in the info/warning log.

But I do not have Bluetooth in my device. Why is it required by Vivaldi?
Edit:
The same info/warning messages in VM too, but the issue has nothing to do with bluez. -
The changelog since Vivaldi 5.2 (2623.24)
[Tabs] Moving tab bar position from right to left causes tabs to be reloaded VB-84094
[Tabs] "Tile Horizontally" is selected by default VB-87455I suspect one of them broke it.
How can I disable both options, then I try to test?@DoctorG can you info Vivaldi developer?

I have no idea what you mean. What should i tell them?

Just question them, if you have the contact with them.
