Solved New tab extension blocks history, bookmarks, notes and calendar pages

@thebetterstory I'm guessing you're using a new tab extension? Which one?

This is a known bug, hopefully it will be fixed in next release, there's certainly been enough posts about it.

There is a workaround you can use until then, but I'll need to know which extension to figure out the URL to use instead.

@pathduck Ah, thank you! I didn't see anything from a cursory search for "history," I should have looked harder.

I figured out how to add my history to my side panel, where it's visible, so that's sufficient for now. Disabling Tab for a Cause made both pages work again; I suppose I can just turn it off whenever I want to access them the normal way. It's good to hear that this has already been brought up, hopefully a solution is being worked on.

If it helps, this started as soon as Vivaldi themes were introduced and I tried my first custom one.

@thebetterstory For a workaround so you don't need to disable the extension:

For URL you can just use: http://tab.gladly.io/newtab/

Remember to uncheck "Controlled by extension".

It's not related to themes.

@dpn Nice hack. It worked for me but this should be fixed as I had been working with no history since a few months ago.

To be honest, I'm not sure you even need the extension. You can just set the URL I gave you as new tab page, and it should do the same thing. I can't tell if the extensions does anything but change the new tab page.

Same problem for me.

I specifically created a shortcut to open notes in a new tab but when I use that shortcut or use the open in new tab for notes, it shows a blank window.

Same for history. Its shows a blank window.

similar to @dpn, I was using an extension called "momentum" which controlled the start page. As soon as I disabled the extension, the issue was fixed. I guess it's a nice work around for the time being but this should be fixed in the long run.

When I open the page for history, notes, etc. my window only shows a blank page. If anyone knows how to remedy this problem, your help would be much appreciated.

@pafflick I have some complaints and suggestions regarding this forum:

In the error message, instead of "don't have access to" it should say that it's been moved, and give me a link to the new thread.

1.1. even better if i am automatically redirected and i just get a tiny notification box about "your original thread has been merged with the current one, but we've taken you to the right position anyway :)"

i was watching the old thread and now the new one is not watching. This makes me lose information silently: idk that the old one is moved, idk about the new one at all => idk that changes or discussion is happening. Imo, merging threads should also merge all the watching statuses
