      Hello folks,

inspired by VSCode, I'd love to use tiling by dragging a tab into the viewport, offering different split options depending on the cursor position. This would allow a more flexible tiling where I don't need to select every tab I want to have in my split view beforehand.

This would also allow replacing single tiles in a grid view without "rebuilding" it.

I can record a video if needed.

      🖖🏼

@max06net There is already a decent workaround for this.

        • Drag the tab onto the tab that you wish to tile it with. The two tabs will be stacked
        • Click on the Tile button to tile the tabs horizontally, vertically, to grid, or to untile the tab stack. (this is broken in the latest Snapshot).

There are many other requests for tiling and tile. I am sure this one is there somewhere.

@pesala Thanks a lot for this!

An even easier way: Select multiple tabs by holding Ctrl and then simply tile them.

Tab stacks are very inconvenient for this. I have a lot of them and selecting tabs from different stacks is either complicated or simply pain. In VSCode I can simply drap a file/tab/view/whatever into my viewport and it offers me to replace the current view, or to split it in different ways. I'll see if I can find a video of that, or I'll create an own for demonstration.
