key-id fido/u2f not working win7
-
key-id fido/fido2/u2f device is not working with vivaldi-desktop.
tried to register webauth key-id https://www.key-id.com/fido-security-keys-overview/ in vivaldi against gitlab 2fa - but it is not working at all.
a reverse check with latest firefox (98.0.1) does - out of the box.i found no idea how to sniff/read HID-traffic from the key
does anyone has a clue how to fix this ...?
thanks from murmel

@murmel Webauth works for me at webauthn.io and github.com with a Yubikey 5 NFC and Yubikey Security on Windows 11 with Vivaldi 5.1.2567.57

i tried the demo in https://webauthn.io/
with success. i was able to get my public-key. so device and browser are working. this are good news.
maybe a problem on gitlab-code ...
thanksmurmel

Please, check with Chromium to see if it is a Vivaldi-only issue with your token key or if Chromium fails, too.
Download Chromium 99 archive from Wolyss, unzip to a user folder, start Chromium exe and test your Gitlab U2F key.
If it works on Chromium you should report issue to Vivaldi bug tracker.
I have no Gilab account, can not test. I suppose to contact Gitlab support.
/edit: Oh my goodness, Gitlab force users to install a extra aurthnticator app and a hardware token!? Crazy. No thanks. -
checked with chromium-browser:
- webauthn.io worked
registration and login are fine; same result as with vivaldi
- gitlab didn't work.
i also tried to enable site-settings: "notifications", "USB devices" and "HID devices" with no results with both browsers.
... other ideas ?
murmel - webauthn.io worked

You should ask Gitlab support. -

I have no idea. Sorry.
don't worry. this would be a nice to have feature only, which is not essential. an alternative 2fa is available.
thanks for helping
