Continuing Password Problems
-
I keep having password issues on my various installs of Vivaldi. Looking thru the forum, I see this as a constant theme.
Passwords get forgotten or Vivaldi will refuse to remember them. I have been having problems like this for the entire time I have been using Vivaldi but more so in the past year or so.
I know this sounds like a leading / flame question but why can't Vivaldi resolve this issue? The browser is constantly being updated with emphasis on tab handling (which is the main reason I use it) but it seems like the password issue is a constant complaint. Maybe this is only a problem with Linux installs?

@kellyvotrenom In case it might help:

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, it only confirms my suspicions and would prefer that Vivaldi developers fix the problems with password management.
I did try password export & import on one of my profiles and it didn't work, so I don't believe that's an option.
I only use the password manager for forum log ins and a couple of distributor sites, I would never rely on it for anything critical.
Thanks

@kellyvotrenom YES. This just happened to me again this morning March 8th 2022 - for the 3rd time since I've been using Vivaldi from Dec 23rd 2021. 3 months. 3 times. I spent a half hour this morning looking up and re-entering password on 4 commons sites that I use.
This cannot continue to happen. I love Vivaldi - but if this happens again before April 1st - I will transfer to a new browser.

I am hesitant to move away from Vivaldi since I am a tab addict. I have 8 different profiles on various machines with hundreds of tabs. But at least half of the profiles are exhibiting some sort of corruption that I just deal with, password problems being the most prominent.
Firefox has an extension called Panorama Tab Groups which works differently than tab management in Vivaldi but has been useful for me in my two Firefox profiles. You might want to take a look at it
The password problems in Vivaldi have been pretty consistent over the last few years, that's why I only keep forum passwords stored. I never keep important password info in any browser password manager.

What does that mean?

@kellyvotrenom npro - you are obviously a genius. Please excuse the rest of us for living.

Once everyone realises it's only a simulation, it all becomes much easier to bear.
Broader remark.
Peeps might or might not have valid gripes about V's password management efficacy & reliability. IMO one might then have alternative coping methods. One might be to take high dudgeon & insist V Devs fix all your alleged concerns before you'll deign to use V again. Another might be to sigh with disappointment but then get on with practical & effective workarounds which, in a perfect
worldsimulation, would be unnecessary, but alas ourworldsimulation is far from perfect. I posted some viable workarounds before. -
@guigirl Thanks GUI Girl. I will click on your name and seek the historical advice. Also glad to know you are GUI girl and not Gooey girl
