Installed Vivaldi to play an old flash game. Worked once.
-
Just like the title says. I got to play a couple games and i shut down my laptop. When I started it up and tried again I get the flash isn't supported anymore message. What happened?! Anyone know how I can fix this? I love the game but it's only flash.

@lardvark Hello and Welcome to the Vivaldi Community
Flash has not been supported in Vivaldi since Jan. '21 so either you are (or were) using a very outdated version or it wasn't a flash game.
What is your Vivaldi version?
Maybe it auto-updated, but then you'd need to have had the browser running continuously for a year
It would help if you posted the URL of the actual game.

@pathduck Thanks for the quick response. Here is the exact steps I took. First, I've never installed Vivaldi. So this was a fresh instal. I downloaded whatever version automatically downloads. I installed it. I open this URL: Warzone Tower Defence and was able to successfully play one game. I powered down my laptop and when I booted back up I got the notice that flash was no longer supported.
No idea how to make it work again. I've literally been looking for a solution since flash went dark.

@lardvark OK, well I have no idea how it worked after installing, as that game is (as you say) Flash, and won't work in any modern browser. But there's really no point in theorizing why it might've worked once for you - it won't work and never will.
Believe me, I was one of those regretting the death of Flash too, but it's time to move on. Some sites have not apparently, and have not updated their content.
I checked, and the game is available in Flashpoint:
https://bluemaxima.org/flashpoint/
It's relatively easy to get going, and will give you access to thousands of other Flash games. It's also available on Newgrounds:
https://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/466669
But it still needs a separate player so IMO Flashpoint is the better option. There are also a lot of classic Flash games on the Internet Archive, playable through browser emulation.

@pathduck I appreciate the help, but none of the options you listed worked for me. Probably because I'm using a Mac. I am absolutely mystified by the fact that I played a game today and it worked perfectly. And now I can't. I'll keep working on it.

@lardvark Oh right, sorry I forgot it was MacOS, there is a Mac version of Flashpoint but it seems very tricky to get working:
https://bluemaxima.org/flashpoint/datahub/Mac_SupportThe Archive.org emulated flash games should work in Vivaldi on all systems though, but not as many games there as on Flashpoint.
There are a lot of emulated games on Newgrounds that should work fine too, unfortunately the one you want needs the standalone (Win-only) player.

(Though to be fair these are mostly Unity games) -
I use a stand alone flash player (not sure if available for mac) and download swf files..(i have 120,000 files) and play at my own leisure.
Older browser which accepts flash plugin is an option too.

I might add that since Flash is discontinued, pretty much all the sites that offered Flash games have switched to Html5, WebGL and Unity. With this almost all the old flash games are also now available in these formats.
-
@catweazle Some sites have archived the flash games and are still available, but as you say the majority have switched to the new formats.
i find the flash games are better in quality.Room escape games are a particular favourite of mine.

@priest72 Hey how much space does 120k Flash games take?
The Flashpoint Ultimate installer takes up a whopping 874GB. Fortunately one can download on-demand instead.
Do you have the game the OP asked about? Warzone Tower Defense?
Do you have a list of all the games?
-
Hi,
approximately 18gb used and stored on external drive.
Sorry don't have game mentioned..
list.?..good grief it would fill the forum up lol. -
