Solved How to turn on desktop notifications?
-
Can anybody help how to turn on DESKTOP notifications in vivaldi ??
-
@bartardel I'm not sure you can get notifications from panels. However, you can visit the relevant sites, click the padlock in the address bar, pick Site Settings, and turn notifications from the default "ask" to "allow." If panels can generate notifications, you will then get them. If they are silent, you will have to turn on the sound for Vivaldi notifications in Windows.
-
@bartardel Do you want every page to be able to post notifications, or just some? It is a website permission, not a browser action.
-
@ayespy I want to whatsap or google messages and google calendar show desktop notifications because I am working on many pages and don't wanna miss something... I already added whatsaap and google messages and calendar to left panel menu and when I get message I only get information on that icon but I reallly need to get desktop notification
-
I have permissions on at google calendar or whatsaap and it's working in opera... it shows desktop notifications but not working on vivaldi...

Now it's working
Panels can generate desktop nofifications as well. Thank you so much. But i broke something in options vivaldi and no it does;t show received messages on panel icons... can you help with that please? maybe it's because I past it to address bar ? vivaldi://flags/#enable-native-notifications
-
@bartardel What do you mean it doesn't show received messages? You mean it doesn't show the little red (or colored) circle with the incremental number? I don't know what you mean by "past" (passed? paste?) it to the address bar. If you mean webpage title notifications, those can be turned on in settings if they are not already on.
-
I mean when I get whatsaap message it doesnt show notification on panel icon now. But it worked before.... also wgen i get desktop nofification and when i click its not linked with exact page
-
@bartardel No, clicking on the notifier does not take you to the exact thing being notified about in Vivaldi right now. Something is broken there.
-
@BartArdel If you get the desktop notification, I guess for now you will just have to click on the Whatsapp panel instead of the notifier. I don't use Whatsapp, so I can't test for this.

Yes but on opera when I click windows desktop notification it takes me to that bookmark. (Whatsaap for exmaple). I have one more question. How to save bookmark and it's sub bookmarks and name to have it still when i will close and open vivaldi ?? I see it's not possible to set it as pages starting with vivaldi... They start but separately and I ned to stick them together again and rename it... 11.png

@bartardel I mean tabs not bookmarks
-
@bartardel said in Anyone have Gmail desktop notifications fully working?:
but on opera...
Vivaldi is not Opera, nor are they related. Vivaldi is a completely different kind of browser - and the handling of clicking on a notification is a specialized function. It's not something you can plug in or turn on. It has to be written from scratch specifically for Vivaldi's UI. Vivaldi hasn't gotten this right yet.
As to your next question, I literally do not understand it at all - and the image you linked means nothing to me. Could you re-word this question?
-
@ayespy I mean in vivaldi I can stick two tabs in one and name it but how to keep it together if I reopen vivaldi ? after I reopen tabs are separate again...
-
@bartardel So - you are saying you can make a tab stack and rename the tab stack, but the tabs are not still stacked when you reopen Vivaldi. Do you have Vivaldi set to startup "with last session?" This should preserve every tab and stack that you had open when you closed the browser.
-
@bartardel I will say, though, that if you are using "accordion" tab stacks, there is something broken with them right now, affecting adding or removing tabs, and perhaps preserving the stacks. This just happened a couple of builds ago, and is being worked on.
-
@ayespy No, i have Vivaldi to open list of websites every time when it opens. I didn;t use "with last session?" because I am afraid i can close some website and forget about it
-
@bartardel Let me experiment with that.
What exact version of Vivadi (Menu/Help/About) are you using, and what type of tab stacking are you using (Compact, Two-Level, Accordion)?
-
@ayespy 5.1.2567.57 (Stable channel) (64-bit) , Two-Level
-
@bartardel OK, so here is the deal. You cannot StartupWith specific pages as stacks - only as individual pages.
If you have a particular session you want to save and recover, that has stacks in it, then you have to save that session (menu/file/save all tabs as session) Or if you want to save only some of them, including stacks, as a session, you multi-select the tabs you want, right-click, and select "save # tabs as a session." You get to name each session however you want. Then rather than StartupWith selected pages, you just start up with whatever option, go to menu/file/open saved session and pick the session you want to open. At present, you will only get all the pages and stacks you want from the saved session to appear together if you let Vivaldi open the session in a new window (default setting).
