@ayespy If I search for Appdata in the menu this is what I'm getting
-
@casc5962 Do you know how to go to your C:// drive?
-
@ayespy Is it the "Local Disk (C:)" under "This PC?"
-
@casc5962 Haven't really read this thread, but here is a quick way to get to the AppData folder.
- Press the Windows Key and R (โ+
R
) to bring up theRun
prompt - Enter
%appdata%
into the input and pressEnter
or selectOK
- This will bring you to the
Roaming
folder inAppData
, but Vivaldi is in theLocal
folder, so use the Up Directory button or remove\Roaming
from the path to get to theAppData
folder and open theLocal
folder instead.
Then you can find the Vivaldi folder and do whatever you need to do.
- Press the Windows Key and R (โ+
-
@casc5962 Yes, it is. Double-click on that drive, which opens it in explorer, and then double-click on the "Users" folder in that drive and when that opens up, double-click on the folder with your user name.
-
@nomadic I need the user to be able to FIND it, not merely go to it.

Don't really see what the difference is since the end result is the same, but I will leave you to it since you know what you are trying to do.
-
@ayespy I got to the "Local" folder, but I can't see the "Users"
BUT, there's Vivaldi! Should I do something with that? -
@casc5962 What is inside the Vivaldi folder?
-
-
@casc5962 And in the User Data folder? There should be a folder named Default.
While you are there, would you call out the file path to the Vivaldi folder for me - so I know where it is on your machine?
It will be something like C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Local\Vivaldi or C:\Program Files\Vivaldi. It SHOULD be the first one, because it has the User Data folder in it.
-
@ayespy Here's the screenshot
-
@casc5962 Excellent. Rename that folder (the one named Default) and see if Vivaldi will open.
-
@ayespy Does it matter what new name it will get?
-
@casc5962 Does not matter at all - just so long as it is not "Default." Can be Defaults, Defaulter, Defaulted, Cadillac, Volvo, Henry, Bernice, Fido, anything.
-
@ayespy Vivaldi is working, thank you very, very much!
-
@casc5962 If you have data you wanted to keep in that old renamed folder. there is a way to move it to the new Default folder.
-
One more question, @Ayespy: when I logged into Vivaldi, there should be my bookmarks and things and for some reason I don't see them. I did press the "Sync" button, but then it told me to create an account, and I already have one. I'm confused.
-
@Akismet, why are you flagging me as spam? I'm having a legitimate conversation with Ayespy. I was trying to say that I closed and reopened Vivaldi, but my bookmarks weren't there.
