32bit linux version.

You could use virtualbox if so required or indeed created another partition for a 64bit linux.
Sorry which linux are you using.?
Even though my laptop is 32bit the CPU does have 64bit registers and i installed a 64bit puppy linux and vivaldi runs just fine even though there is extra toil on the CPU. -
@priest72 It's a 12 year old netbook which I only want to occasionally use for watching a video or catching up on mail/news - so when Vivaldi stopped working it was back gathering dust under the bed. It only had 32-bit Q4OS (a Debian variant) and I didn't think a virtual machine would run 64-bit inside a 32-bit OS.
Anyway, I took a chance on 64-bit Q4OS and it's fine! Vivaldi running perfectly and VLC even seems smoother than before. It's performing better than ever. Wish I'd known this was possible back when it took half an hour to finish booting up XP!

just an update.
On a 64bit os (fossapup linux) and discovered high cpu usage was being caused by the compositor..So i disabled and cpu usage dropped dramatically.
Vivaldi uses about 2% cpu on general browsing.. -
@priest72 it's KDE Plasma here... thanks for the tip, I'll take a look at bypassing the compositor.
-
@mossman I hope it is of benefit to you.
I reinstalled fossapup about a week ago and was experiencing high cpu usage when vivaldi was open and i incorrectly diagnosed a browser problem but upon perusal of the puppy forum some very helpful members there pointed me in the direction of (picom) which is the fossapup compositor and i also disabled the conky too and the results were significant. Not too certain if this discovery could apply to other linux distros in regard to cpu usage.

I support a range of ubuntu LTS derivative VMs
( Virtual Machine) Desktops. And need to update
32bit vivaldi on these. Ironically it was one of my
testers that recommended it to me.VirtualBox dropped Full 32bit emulation in 2019;
the performance has degraded horribly. Especially
for core (kernel etc) upgrades. On identical hardware. But these VMs are a mainstay to my Desktop
workflow, and development work. Likely to stay
that way.Is the 32bit deb package FINISHED Also?
If so I'll remove the ancient one from the VMs.
I removed chromium for Vivaldi. Its annoying to have to put it back and throw
away all of the vivaldi profile site comparison work completely. Logins etc. GRRRRRR -

-
Thats Great News! How? I have ftp http Download
links but never see any newer deb versions.AFAIR one of them near to the last had an issue
with missing libraries, which was easy enough to
fix by copying those from a previous installation
version.Where do I go to get authentic 32bit Builds of the
current v5 series?THANKS
-
@doctorg Just to add if i may.
Peebee is a 32bit puppy maintainer and has 32bit builds of chromium running on ubuntu and slackware based pup linux systems. On one of my partitions i have one of his chromium builds which is the latest version running on one of them but it should be noted that it runs "as root" which is the puppy way as it is not a multi user operating system so i am kind of making people aware that 32bit latest chromium is possible but not running in the conventional manner as chromium always expects a multi-user environment..We call non root "spot" in puppy linux land.
-
My Bad. Did you mean CANT get? Because the
Chromium core no longer builds on 32 LinuxI'm missing T too; will take a break for some and
come back later... -

@doctorg No worries
I came back to the forum to try to find my SSL
CA Trust management post, elsewhere, but cant
figure out how to find that.I'm off to read conventional listmail; forum UX'es
are just too much for me to Grok and manage.
