Solved Vivaldi doesn't ask to Save Credentials on Some Sites
-
On a few sites Vivaldi doesn't ask me to save my credentials. When I look at the "Show Saved Passwords" it doesn't appear I can manually add anything. When I go to "chrome://settings/passwords" these few sites don't show up in the "Never Saved" category either.
How in the world do I manage passwords? Or, for that matter, add one or get Vivaldi to do it for me? Thanks,

@willh You will have to explicitly add the insecure sites you want to save logins here:
vivaldi://flags/#unsafely-treat-insecure-origin-as-secure
For instance if I add:
http://localhost,http://127.0.0.1,http://192.168.0.10
It will accept saving passwords for my local web server, as it does not have TLS/SSL enabled. Browser restart is required after changing this.

@willh Hi, if the sites in question use plain
http
i.e. considered "insecure" the browser won't ask for saving passwords,What sites are these specifically?
Here are a couple tests for you to try:
https://www.stealmylogin.com/demo.htmlhttps://www.w3schools.com/howto/tryit.asp?filename=tryhow_css_login_form_modal
Just enter some random data in the forms, and Vivaldi should ask if you want to save the password.

These are internal devices that need configuration, like NAS, WAPs, etc. Also, some sites still use http since they have to pay for https and they're not insecure because they have nothing to steal.

@pathduck I did add the complete URL to the list of insecure sites, then closed the browser, then opened it then checked the status of "Insecure origins treated as secure". It is enabled and the full URL is in the list of secure URLs. Vivaldi still doesn't ask me to save the credentials when I navigate to the site.
In addition, I navigate to my firewall at "https://192.168.1.1" and vivaldi get's upset about no certificate. When I navigate through that I get the login screen and Vivaldi doesn't ask me to save those credentials either.
Why not simply allow me to add whatever credentials I want in the credentials page of settings? Just a thought.

It works fine here. Video using my local Nginx and a simple test login form:

You will need to add the certificate to the OS certificate store. I have added my router's self-signed certificate to the store, and it works, even saves password.
Asus routers add a local DNS entry for itself, which simplifies things a lot. Since you use an IP you will probably need to also add the URL to the trusted origins list because IP addresses are untrusted by default.
Why not simply allow me to add whatever credentials I want in the credentials page of settings? Just a thought.

and
https://techdows.com/2022/01/chrome-add-password-manually.htmlThis is a really new feature in Chromium 98 I think, so was not aware before searching the forum and found the feature request above. Upvote it as well. Maybe one day it will also be possible to edit and add directly in V settings, for now we have to use Chromium settings page.

I found the simple solution. I turned off the password management in the Vivaldi then signed up for Bitwarden password manager. Now this works on all my activity through Vivaldi, Chrome, Firefox, (not Edge), and Opera. Trying to figure out how to install on Brave on an iPhone.
