Copy Hyperlink Text
-
TL;DR
A context menu option when right-clicking a hyperlink to be able to:- Just copy the hyperlink text
- Just copy the hyperlink (URL)
- Copy both in a convenient format > Proposal: [link text](link url)
Description:
I've always found comfort in Chrome for Android the option to be able to copy just the hyperlink text, Many times just the text is what's meant to be copied not the hyperlink URL itself. Using desktop version forces users to carefully position the cursor at the beginning/end of the word/sentence to be copied, thus incrementing the error margin to the user.I haven't found a Chrome extension that replicates its Android version option properly and even so, this must be an out-of-the-box feature.
As an extra, I propose I third option to combine both, the text and the URL, in a convenient format; for example to share the text-link combo in a forum, Reddit, etc. Thanks for reading/voting!

In case you didn't know it, you can drag to select text in a link. If you do, the context menu will combine both the link menu (with the various Open options and Copy link address and so on) and the selection menu (with Copy, Copy to Note and so on). So the only one not there is the Markdown.

@sgunhouse Thanks for your comment. I'm aware of these options but none of these is what I'm requesting, except the Copy link address that I was aware before... Opening the hyperlink in any of the given options, bookmarking it, adding it to a note or searching the selection are distinct options to the requested ones.

I know, but that's precisely what I'd like to avoid. I'd like to right-click a hyperlink and be able to select the full hyperlink text without the need to manually select it; then be able to select one of the suggested options: just hyperlink (already existent option), just hyperlink text (not present), a mixture of both in a convenient format (not present).

Some time has passed... So, just to update: is this little but useful feature request being considered? It is more clear in Google Chrome mobile version when long touching a link. This would be equally useful in Vivaldi desktop version.
THANKS!

@metafaniel This is listed internally as request VB-44345, but is not planned to be implemented yet.

@LonM just saying here for giving extra weight to "Copy link to text". In my feature request list, this would be the most used function (and i think most basic one too??). I agree with copy both idea as well, but if that is hard to implement, i will happy with just this one too.
Most Recent Use Case: I was making the Table of Content list for GHub README.md which requires pasting these hashtags, and it would be sooo convenient
See, vivaldi for android does this soo beautifully.

i have just updated to vivaldi 4.3.2439.63 (from Vivaldi.3.5.2115.87 i guess) and this feature "copy link text" is there. thanks a lot for it.

@Team_Vivaldi - Seriously? It's been 4 years and you didn't even look at it?
Is it so hard for you to consider it or you just ignoring it?
-
@smerugu28 You're no longer a noob here.
Please be respectful. The Team is small and there are many bugs and feature requests that require attention.
-
I'm confused. This is already a feature, isn't it? It's certainly an option for me when I right-click on a link in Vivaldi.
-
@xandork No. One can copy the link, or the text, but not both at once.
