Adblock exceptions not working for Honey
-
I don't use any adblock extensions. Only the built-in one.

@chaosmyth Hello and Welcome to the Vivaldi Community
You can't whitelist files directly like that - the exceptions only work for domains directly, e.g. adding
joinhoney.com
will whitelist ads and trackers when visiting thejoinhoney.com
domain. That file is an adblock list, mostly containing exceptions for Honey affiliates. What exactly are you trying to do? If you're trying to add the list to the V adblocker, you add it using "Manage Sources", then paste in the URL to the list under adblocking sources.

@pathduck Hi, I'm not the OP but I'm having the same issue. I have tried adding the URL Honey suggests (https://www.joinhoney.com/whitelist/honey-smart-shopping.txt) to my blocking exceptions, but I still get the alert in the Honey extension. Adding just joinhoney.com also doesn't fix it. I also have no other adblock besides the built-in one. I do use Privacy Badger, but have disabled it for joinhoney.com.
Here's the alert in the Honey extension:

@moosmas Hi - that URL should not be blocked by any of the standard block lists anyway. Like I said earlier, that file is a list containing exceptions for an adblocker.
The Honey help says:
"Have a different ad blocker or need to manually whitelist Honey? Just go to your ad blocker's "Options" page and find the custom filter list. Copy and paste this URL: https://www.joinhoney.com/whitelist/honey-smart-shopping.txt and hit subscribe."
You need to add that exception list to the Vivaldi adblocker as per the documentation:
https://help.vivaldi.com/desktop/privacy/tracking-and-ad-blocking/
Under "Adding lists".Otherwise you will have to manually turn off the Vivaldi adblocker for every site you want to use Honey.
Note that obviously this will open the browser to a ton of trackers. You might as well just turn off the V adblocker if using Honey, as it would serve no purpose. That's the cost of "saving money with Honey" I guess...
Oh and if you're running other privacy extensions (like Privacy Badger), you will most likely run into the same issue. Not all extensions allow adding a whitelist file, so you'll once again be forced to disable PB on all sites you want to use Honey. It won't help just whitelisting
joinhoney.com

@pathduck Oh I see. Thanks! I misunderstood how to use it. I thought I had to add an exception for that URL, and didn't know it had to be a source. This fixed it. Thanks again!
