(History of) Vivaldi Feature Requests
-
Hello,
I was using Yandex Browser, but it is not stable. I tried Vivaldi Browser and it is lovely and perfect, but there is a missing feature that i like. Yandex Browser has "Double Click to Tab to Scroll Top" feature. If you double click on the current tab, browser scrolls to top of the page. I hope we can see this feature on Vivaldi Browser.
Best Regards.

Why not, as a selectable feature. Meantime you ca try some of many extensions with button, flowing button, hidden areas and etc:

The ability to decide to switch off animated images.

I'm struck by the lack of right click options in so many regards of Vivaldi. The more I use this programme the more I think Opera 12.18 is still the best browser ever made!

When click Inspect (CTRL+SHIFT+I) I would like to be able to Dock it to bottom like in Chrome.

I have one more request. As you know there are four options on right click menu for opening links. First option on the right click menu is "Open link in new tab " and third option is "Open link in background tab". I want to open every link in background tab, but i click on first option every time. All i want is change the sequence. I know this is a weird question but it is too complicated for me.

Presto-based Opera had the ability to assign some keyboard functions to the mouse gestures. I used to have the 'Home' key assigned to a mouse gesture, which I found very convenient. I think it's been said that mouse gesture customization would be coming. Hopefully the ability to assign the 'Home' key or a 'scroll to top' function to a mouse gesture will be available.

Agreed and it only took them 10 years or so to get it that good ! But unfortunately Opera 12.18 doesn't work as well with today's Web.
Vivaldi saved some time by using Chromium engine, but not that much, as they are having to rewrite the whole U.I.
More updates/improvements are on their way. -
I would like the search box to retain its contents while switching tabs, like in Firefox. sometimes I start typing in one tab, and I realize I want to open the search results in a new tab, and I have to copy and paste it from one search box to another.
If there are people who like each tab having a unique search box, simply make it a user preference that can be changed.
And if anyone knows if it is possible to change this setting via the custom.css, please let me know.

yes please! Open in background as the first option (or the ability to make it the first option) would be awesome.
In fact, I see "open in tab stack" is about to be added, so the ability to re-arrange those options according to one's own preferences would probably be best. -

If you want to open a link in the background it's much easier to use middle-click or Ctrl + Click.
GestureDown, GestureUp will also do it.

1. It should be possible to drag bookmarks from the bookmarkbar onto the Speed Dial page and drop them there (and vice versa).
2. Why is the "Speed Dial page" named "Startup Page" in the settings section? Consistency is THE number one rule in software projects - especially between Dev teams! If your QC is unable to catch such things, then I'm concerned….
3. The add-new-Speed-Dial process is cumbersome and not always logical in its GUI elements. If you click the "Bookmark" label in the top row, Vivaldi opens up a whole page to show the bookmark folder tree - even though a panel for that purpose is already integrated in the left panel. If the left panel is open, it looks particularly inconsistent to open up another panel occupying the whole screen to show exactly the same. And, how do you close that screen again to get back to the Speed Dial page? The only way I've found is to close Vivaldi and reopen it. (!)
4. What's the point of having a "Suggestions" list when you cannot select from it?? It should be possible to tag several elements in the "suggestions" list when adding new Speed Dials, using ctrl or shift-click.
5. it doesn't seem to work at all. I tried to key in a URL and click Add, but nothing happened..... -
My first proper feature request:
For the webapp we use at work, I need to jump between multiple similar tabs on the same website. I've found the tab preview popup in the "new" Opera is great for this cos it's quite big, so you can actually see the contents of the tab in the preview popup (without needing to open the tab).
In Vivaldi, it's quite small, which is fine if you just wanna see which website that tab contains, but doesn't actually give you any detail.
Can we have an option to have a bigger popup please?
(An analogous example - imagine having 40 tabs open, of which 15 are different Wikipedia articles. With the current pop-up preview you'll never be able to tell which-is-which without actually clicking the tab.) -
One thing I like is as minimal of a UI as possible, so with that in mind I'd like the ability to hide scrollbars, like in the mobile world these really don't need to be persistently displayed, they just take up space. How about contextual display like if you are scrolling or the option to disable them entirely.

I'd like a close button on the panel. Whenever a download pops up I have to go through the menu to figure out how to hide it. It would be much easier if there was a close button directly on the panel.

The icon on the panel is a toggle to both open and close.

The icon is not on the panel, but on the status bar.
F4 opens and closes the panel.
You can uncheck the option in settings to always open the downloads panel. Then it won't open for every download.
Just clicking on the download icon on the panel bar opens and closes the downloads panel, just as the bookmark icon does for bookmarks and the note icon does for notes.

I've always wanted a browser that could split two separate pages within itself for separate viewing–much like Photoshop or Word or really any other program allows you to have two separate documents open laid out side by side. I watch a lot of videos/tutorials/podcasts/whatever but love having them open right next to the another browser window that I'm working / searching / researching in.
Also, need to be able to to drag a tab and split it out into a new window like you can in Chrome.

Hi! First of all: Thanks for the Browser! I am very happy to see something new with fresh ideas.
Currently i am using Chrome for Work (I am a Webdeveloper) and Firefox for Browsing.. so Firefox is my very own Choice. And this is because of the plugin "Request Policy".
With this Plugin it is easily possible to define rules for websites from where to load its content and from where not.If anyone knows if there is something like "Request Policy" for vivaldi, please let me know - for me this is a reeeaaaly nice thing.
I did some search in the Chrome Web Store already but found nothing. But IMHO this should be built in the Browser - if the Browser claims to be feature Rich and for Power Users
