How do I remove unused usernames/passwords?
-
There are some accounts I no longer use or access such as my old email account which I changed. How can I delete these unused passwords & usernames? Thanks!

@wireaddict Hi, check Settings > Privacy > Passwords.
Please read:

Thanks, Pathduck, sorry for the delay. When I try that there's always a message saying "No saved passwords" yet there are. Also, now, the Password Mgr. no longer works although it's checked in the Privacy settings. Also, I know it's enabled b/c, whenever I visit a website like this one & enter the password, a box always appears asking if I want to save the password (although it never does anymore.) Everything else works fine; is there a way to fix this shiort of reformatting this computer & reinstalling everything? I'm sort of a newb. Thanks in advance!

@wireaddict Hi, something must've gone corrupted in your profile, if it asks for passwords to be saved but they're not.
To be sure check also the internal URL:
chrome://settings/passwords
If you see any passwords there.Also download the tool ChromePass:
https://www.nirsoft.net/utils/chromepass.html
Run it, and it should list the saved passwords from all Chromium-based browsers in your OS profile. If not try going into File > Advanced Options and set the profile folder directly (usuallyc:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Vivaldi\User Data\Default
:You can use this tool to make a backup of your passwords (Select all, save as).
If there are no passwords showing at all, you might need to close Vivaldi, then delete the following files from your profile folder:
Login Data
Login Data-journal
This will of course delete all your saved passwords (if any are found in ChromePass) so make sure to make a backup first.Also try in a clean profile, if it works there then you'll probably need to reset your profile.

It's rare that a OS reinstall solves anything, most issue can be solved with a little patience. -
@wireaddict
Hi, in addition of what @Pathduck mention, if you reinstall Windows all passwords are lost because Vivaldi use the Windows ID to encrypt them, a fresh install of Windows create a new ID.Cheers, mib

@mib2berlin Yes, but...

@wireaddict your issue is related to your other issue:
@wireaddict said in Bug Report: Vivaldi Always asks for Keyring Password When Starting:
I use a 64-bit desktop computer & have had this problem for several years & with several Linux Mint distros & versions of Vivaldi. After boot up & after starting Vivaldi I always get a nag box that says "Enter your password to unlock your login keyring." This goes away after entering my Linux Mint password or hitting 'cancel' 3-6 times. This isn't a major problem but it's just another hoop users need to jump through to get on line & it servers no useful purpose that I need. IE, Opera & F/fox don't require this extra step & they seem to work OK for their users. I read somewhere that this is probably a Chrome issue; please consider disabling this petty nuisance. Besides the latest version of Vivaldi I also use Linux Mint edition, v19.3. TIA!
Someone please copy-paste that "keyring"-thing text, I don't have it in my Notes. Thanks.

I've decided to bite the bullet & do a reformat & install the newest version of Vivaldi since we have had other issues with with v19.3 (Tricia) although I still may need help with something. Thanks for the help!
