Friday fixes – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 2567.24
-
Oh, and the regular Friday Snapshot…
Shall I wait for Nightly? -
Regression: Menu customization, can no longer edit the "Open Link" entry, not able to type or paste anything into the field.
Report:
VB-86455
Works in Stable, but also broken in previous snapshot.
Anyone confirm?

Wait no longer.
-
@guigirl But that thing doesn't sound like a Vivaldi concerto…
Anyway, have a joyful weekend wherever you are! -

It's already Monday arvo here.

Menu key fails to pull down the menu.
Alt, then F works, but not Alt+F.
-
that is the standard way it is supposed to work.
-
@tsunamiz No it is not. Try in the Stable build (or Notepad).
It is a significant accessibility issue for keyboard users.
-
@pesala I reported it as:
(VB-86281) Menu access key no longer works (5.1.2562.3) -
@pathduck AltGr does nothing at all. I guess that is intended as AltGr = Ctrl+Alt, but it might be an issue for some users.
-
@guigirl How can it be? Are you three days ahead of everyone else?

In which menu/context menu?
I tried in Web Page/Link, I deleted the Open Link entry, then dragged it from the context commands, and it's back where it should.EDIT: Ah, now I see which "Open Link" you mean, the one on top of the available Commands list, that one indeed allows to add a Open Link with an editable url that can't be actually edited (and it's prefilled with https://vivaldi.com)
The description should be "Open URL" or anthing else than Open Link to make it different from the actual Open Link command. -
@pathduck Yes. If I try to edit the text with backspace, the entire text is deleted. I can paste a URL into the field.
-
@hlehyaric Timey wimey stuff. It's complicated.
-
-
that is the correct standard behavior, so that combo keys like ALT+F can be differentiated as a separate hotkey.

Looks like Reading List is being synced
Yes, only text and link, icons are not synced (is known!).

No it's not standard, stop making up standards according to your own liking.
Try Notepad in Windows. Press Alt. Menu entries have underlined letters.
The fact the letters in the menu are underlined it means they should be pressed WITH Alt key pressed. It's how Vivaldi worked and now has (again) this regression where alt-letters don't open the corresponding menu items. -
@ian-coog @Pesala @hlehyaric
Strange, I can't paste either, the field takes no input at all.
Video: https://ttm.sh/iIa.mp4Anyway I made it clear in the report what type of "Open Link" I meant. Hopefully a fix will come before Stable, otherwise users can no longer add custom URLs to the menus.

Another snapshot this week
From 5.1.2567.22 on macOS had to start snapshot twice for the check for updates to work
