Friday Poll: How many themes have you downloaded from themes.vivaldi.net so far?
-
@pathduck Thatβs a good theme ^^ The issue is Β»stretch to fitΒ« hides the bottom line and messes up the theme:
-
I'm at 12 downloaded themes so far
There's just too many great themes! My favourite so far is Phone Booth. I also have 4 themes that I made myself (with 2 of them shared to themes.vivaldi.net)
-
@luetage That 's true. But the background is a nice 10kB for fast startup, just like in the olden days when software was actually coded to be efficient and lean
And scaling a 10kB png up to a huge res would be a waste of precious disk space on your expensive 200MB disk drive!

Could I use a GIF for background for theme I will upload?
-
@stardust Yes, I believe you can. You certainly can use GIFs as SD backgrounds. Might be a size limit somewhere in the checking system. Try it
Note that PNGs might have a smaller size and much better quality than GIFs. You can use APNGs as well.

well, if I would use PNG I will definitely lose the theme contest!
-
@stardust The contest is about making the smallest, most efficient theme, is it not?

Right! But everybody are downloading ones with the cute backgrounds
-
@matteclipsed I definitely lost count of how many I've downloaded, one for each different mood
.
-
I haven't downloaded any...yet. I have uploaded 12 of my own, and intend to download some of the others later.
-
Purple, pink, lilac, and lavender ... see, i use all the available colours. Ergo, I think we can now say that silly rumour is utterly debunked.

40+. I use theme change to indicate that another hour has passed, and when I recognise that I no longer like one of them, I simply change it for a new one.
Just need to remove round corners from time to time. I just don't like them

Are you theme-hopper now?
Just wait till you run into my theme! There are no round corners and accent colors there -
@stardust Is the name of your theme a secret?

Yes, at the moment
You will probably see it in the contest winners list -
I really love themes in Vivaldi, Thunderbird Firefox and formerly LibreOffice.
For probably a decade or more now, I've been using the "Fall Foggy Forest" persona in Firefox/Icecat/Librewolf and Thunderbird.
I used to use it in Libreoffice too, although it no longer supports Firefox personas.
I've installed a handful of themes in Vivaldi, to try them out, but I usually settle on one and leave it. Normally it'll be forests or mountains.
It's a slight shame in Vivaldi, most of the themes I like are mostly only visible on the New Tab page. It's normally just the very edges of the image that appear on things like the title bar. In the Mozilla world, the theme/persona is specifically for styling the window components of the browser itself, and doesn't touch the new tab page. But they're still nice, calming, and worth investigating.

Just the one.
