Not again, Microsoft!

Microsoft has just blocked EdgeDeflector, a workaround for forcing urls from search, widgets, settings, etc, to not open in Edge. The fact that it doesn't respect the default browser is stupid in and of itself, but blocking EdgeDeflector is a whole new level.
I have an older security camera which can only be accessed remotely with an Internet Explorer add-in (very irritating as it's therefore impossible to view on a phone). I am already fighting to keep away all the stupid notifications to use Edge instead of IE so it sounds like this is going to get even worse!
Thanks Microsoft!

Thanks Microsoft!
I wonder if any user, anywhere at all on the rock, has ever uttered those words in a non-ironic, actually-sincere manner. I'd give it HoG odds against.

No problems here with Edge and Bing, WPD helps.
The good thing about Windows is that it is the OS with the largest number of FOSS of all, among them also some who will remove the bad habits in front of the user. I can recommend some of them, that make Windows in a fast and obedient little lamb, which are safe to use (you can undo the changes, if something does not have the desired result)
F.Exmpl., apart from WPD

Microsoft Edge buy now pay later scheme

@pesala Seems Microsoft want to become a bank like Opera with its payment service.

Ah, that browser for shopping...

The good thing about Windows is that it is the OS with the largest number of FOSS of all
Using FOSS and be proud about in a closed proprietary OS that also costs $ to get does not make any sense at all.
/added: especially when we are talking about M$ here with their history full of filth.
-
@npro Some phrase-coining.
M$ is to trust as fish are to bicycles
M$ is to trust as gargle is to !=evil
M$ is to trust as farcebuck is to decency
M$ is to trust as dogs are to !=delusion -
@npro , this is valid for all companies that offer FOSS, be it M$, GitHub (also M$), Google, Facebook, Amazon, etc. all these offer FOSS.
But there is a difference if these apps are made by these companies or come from developers who have uploaded it to their stores.
That Windows has the largest catalog of FOSS available is only the result that it is the main target of developers as it is the most used OS.
It is not necessarily a contradiction to using FOSS on Windows, because among these apps there are also many that can improve privacy, because they block and disable telemetry, the obsession to using EDGE and Bing instead of Vivaldi for some sites, which has Windows and other garbage that 'improve the user experience'. VPN and Mails like Proton, which are also OpenSource and other things -
EU tech firms file formal complaint against Microsoft for bundling OneDrive with Windows
Dozens of European tech firms have accused Microsoft of abusing its dominant position in the industry due to how it aggressively pushes and bundles first-party services (OneDrive, Office 365, Teams etc.) with Windows. German cloud storage company, Nextcloud, has revealed that it officially asked the EU and German authorities to put a stop to Microsoft’s anticompetitive behavior, and that it’s also looking to file a complaint in France with a coalition of nearly 30 partners to establish a level playing field.
Further: https://www.zdnet.com/article/eu-companies-sue-microsoft-onedrive-windows-integration/
Microsoft has done this not by any technical advantage or sales benefits but by heavily favoring its own products and services, self-preferencing over other services.
This is quite similar to what Microsoft did when it killed the competition in the browser market, stopping nearly all browser innovations for over a decade. Copy an innovators' product, bundle it with your own dominant product, and kill their business, then stop innovating.

@npro Karma is a bitch, yet MS still dare to dancing around this crazy bitch after the "last date"... LOL

Microsoft is tied to hundreds of millions of dollars in foreign bribes, whistleblower alleges
-
@npro To be fair, there are countries where you have to bribe people to do business.
-
Nearly four years later, it looks like nothing has really changed.
-
@npro Ah.
“I don’t want you to be a blocker,” he recalls the manager telling him. If he uncovered anything suspicious, the manager said, “You have to turn your head and leave it as is.”
I am shocked beyond words that an eminent company of pristine virtues & #1 product excellence, combined with ultimate respect for customer privacy & security, is apparently instead only corporate pondscum. Who knew?

MICROSOFT IS TIED TO HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF DOLLARS IN FOREIGN BRIBES, WHISTLEBLOWER ALLEGES
This must be another Russian disinformation just like Hunter's laptop! Who is going to believe that if American don't believe the corruption evidence uncovered from that laptop months before the 2020 elections, insist to put Biden & Kamala in charge of America? LOL
Come on man, there are no such thing as "bribe" because we all know big tech always "lobbying" all sort of honest & decent politician to do the greatest deed for common little people. No good politician will sold the voters out for a few millions bucks, just as brandon the sober once said: "We have to... Wait what am I doing here?"

Biggest load of conspiracy gibberish I have wasted my time reading in quite a while.

@cantankrus Apparently, the sarcasm got lost in translation.
