Can't wait for pre-RC/RC to hit stable stream so that I can give version 4.4 a spin on my clean installed Windows 11 😃

@ruarí So trash can will only have 25 items displayed? I got 15 only from reading this forum alone... 🤦♂

                        So instead of just

                        1. click the trash can, scroll down, click your closed tab

                        you have to

                        1. bring up the panel in case you don't use it
                        2. look for the history icon amongst all others
                        3. click the history icon, scroll down/up related to where you have left it the previous time -> extra work, middle-mouse-click your closed tab to have it opened in the background 🙄 , otherwise double-click will replace your current tab 🤦🏻
                        4. move to the tab bar to activate the tab that has opened in the background
                        5. close the panel
                        6. repeat the procedure for any other closed tab you are interested re-opening.

                        NOT good, AT ALL. 🤮

At least you could offer the option to set a custom value of closed tabs to be shown in the Settings.

@npro I am happy with 25, but there should be a Setting for Number of Closed Tabs to Store.

My request was posted after an Option to change number of tabs shown in Closed Tabs menu was tagged as DONE, because the list of 100 closed tabs was too long to be useful IMO.

Obviously, the best option is to let users choose how many closed tabs to display, or to hide the trash can completely by setting it to zero, which would be good for the privacy conscious.

you can do that via Menu Customization already by deleting the [All Closed Tabs] entry.

I like that Firefox just recently decided to do a slight update to their basic theming system while Vivaldi is outdoing something that was already outdoing what Firefox had. That's why I love Vivaldi, focusing on making the browser truly customizable for people willing to dig in the browser settings rather than being as palatable to the most general of general public as possible. 😃

@npro Maybe the trash should have 2 levels? First level shows only 25 last closed tabs (or any other value choosen by the user). The "Show more" entry opens the second level of the list, which is scrollable and shows the rest of the tabs. Something like:

                                  lastClosedList.jpg

@mozzer Unnecessary extra work for nothing, you could have further entries of the same forum or similar amount of closed tabs from another website, that wouldn't change anything other than putting that extra work-annoyance hover-over -wait- move mouse again to it. And your monitor height would be your limiter anyway in both cases, or you put the 2nd-list next to the current one, side-by-side.

One should not be getting a crippled, useless list fixed to 25 entries, just because I don't know how many use a 15.6" laptop with a scale of 200% and are not in a position to see more, or they don't like scrolling. I should pay the price for their choice of having lack of monitor height?

The only way to not butcher the usability, ergonomy and productivity of it is either to revert it to as it was before the regression, a custom predefined number in the Settings for everyone, or at the very least "fit to monitor height", if devs have definitely decided that they don't like scrolling anymore, not 25 entries.

I think it is bad design choice , having to scroll to top to edit current theme. each theme should have edit button, just like the speed dials.

new themes design is still lagging here. what about you?

there is another thing I wanted to say for quite some time.

deleting a bunch of older and useless autofill entries on webpages is a pain. *add cross button to each entry * like in address bar. (like sum entires on bugreport page)
Vivaldi Team might not know all major browsers have this now.

one little issue in the recent ~3 snapshots is that in every new window (including the initial one), has the ad blocker button (or whatever’s first in the address field) focused instead of the page.

                                          • focus page content on new tab: enabled
                                          • new tab page: start page (though,… does that matter? afaik new windows have it anyway)

damn. cannot spot the other magic switch; ie., cannot reproduce so easily in a new profile.
