Failed to get message body - Error: Is logging into mail account $1

Dear Vivaldi-Team and Community,
I've been using Vivaldi Mail happily for a while now, but since today I seem to be getting this Error (see the picture) on both my main PC and my Laptop.
Now the mail client doesn't show any content for a couple of emails in my inbox.
Thunderbird shows everything the way it should be.Does anyone else have this issue? And what can I do to resolve this?
Im running two Windows 10 machines with the latest Vivaldi-Version installed.Greetings Flummic

Okay I just found out that everything is working alright if I turn of AdGuard. Therefore there seems to be either an issue with the updated AdGuard or Vivaldi-Mail, since I've been using AdGuard for years and until very recently it did not interfere with Vivaldi Mail.
Any idea if I could change something in the AdGuard-Settings to use Vivaldi Mail without having to disable AdGuard completely?
-
Same problem here but not using AdGuard.
Was going to try to edit my GMail settings even though I haven't changed credentials, but I can't find a way to do that.
-
@tlam You may then have another app than AdGuard, doing the same sort of blocking.
To edit the settings, go to settings/mail, click on an account, and click on the "servers" tab of the account you have brought up. Then enter the settings you want. Then scroll down in the settings window and click on "update account."

Hello @ayespy,
do you know how Vivaldi-Mail is implemented into the browser? Does it behave like a webpage with a (hidden) URL? Because if that was the case I might be able to edit the filter-lists of Adguard in a way that enables me to check my Emails without turning of Adguard entirely...But as for now I have not found a way to do so.
Greetings Flummic -
@MKluge
It does
Everything should have the URL vivaldi://mail/And the messages should then have something like
vivaldi://mail/message/78380/You can play around with it by
- Having the mail tab open (or a message) with the bookmarks bar enabled.
- Then right click on the bookmark bar and add the active tab.
- Copy the address from the bookmark that was added
That should add the mail link to bookmarks.
If that doesn't work the long version of the link is going to be in the bookmark too (the other one just appears if you right click on the bookmark to copy the link)
chrome-extension://mpognobbkildjkofajifpdfhcoklimli/components/mail/mail.htmlAnd there is a background process for the background page
chrome-extension://mpognobbkildjkofajifpdfhcoklimli/_generated_background_page.htmlPlease let me know what works so that we know whether this works.

@gmg Thank you so much for this very insightful answer to my question! Luckily I don't have to fiddle around with it, since the issue seems to be solved for me!
I don't know what exactly fixed the problem - maybe it was the latest AdGuard Update do Version 7.7.1 or a fix by the Vivaldi-Team, but I can now (happily) recieve and load emails on Vivaldi-Mail while AdGuard is enabled!
I'll keep an eye on this, but for now I'm happy!

I have exactly the same problem with gmail. No idea where to look at. Tried to temporary disable the ESET firewall, but this didn't help. When I delete the email account from Vivaldi and reinstall, it seems to be working for a while but then it doesn't work again. Another email account works fine.
-
@radio303 Exactly the same problem here. No adblocker except the one in Vivaldi.
-
Same here, using a vanilla Windows 10 with only Windows Defender and getting the same error message for one of four accounts with the latest Vivaldi version. I tried to debug via developer console, but without luck. Disabling Defender's firewall also didn't help. Does anybody have an idea? I finally want to make the switch away from Opera Mail to Vivaldi's M3.

@radio303
Hi, I cant even add a new account with running ESET on a friends PC, I had to complete disable it. Please check this for a test.
This happen with the free version of ESET.Cheers, mib

OK so there's something new on Vivaldi 5.1. IMAP connection encountered an error! Error: Unexpected \x00 at position 10885. No idea what this means.
update 09 June 2022: finally on Vivaldi 5.3 with Mail 1.0 it all works, so let's just hope Vivaldi Mail will manage to show attachments as previews someday but it's still usable
