This extension:https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/authenticator/bhghoamapcdpbohphigoooaddinpkbai crashes with nte new stable Vivaldi 4.3. It worked with 4.2.nnn.
-
Stated as fixed in today's Stable update https://vivaldi.com/blog/desktop/update-three-4-3/
-
@skogtun Crashes indeed. Contact the developer and ask nicely whether something could be done about it. They have no reason to support Vivaldi, but maybe they could give you a hint what goes wrong, in which case you could file a proper bug report pointing out the specific issue.

@hordashevsky You mean this? Sadly it doesn't contain too much info to help troubleshoothing the issue.

Well. I'm not the only one. Who will solve this error? Vivaldi or the developer? If they point to each other nothing will happen.
Is it possible to go back to a previous version of Vivaldi or should I move back to Chrome? -

This is a Vivaldi-only bug, Vivaldi devs will investigate. The dev team is very small, a fix may take some time.

Hello.
Plugin (Authenticator) stopped working after the Vivaldi update to 4.3.2439.44.Vivaldi 4.3.2439.44 (Stable channel) stable (64-bit) Revision 6baf3843e8bd4863b130aa31a9a16030b4372afd OS Linux: Manjaro JavaScript V8 9.4.146.21 User Agent Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/94.0.4606.81 Safari/537.36
The plugin keeps crashing.
Everything worked fine on the previous version of Vivaldi. -
@rloktev Hi, do a little search first
-
@npro
thanks. my bad..
So it's not just this plugin that's the problem, another OTP plugin ZeeOTP also does not work with Vivaldi, so the problem is not in the plugins, but in the browser itself ((sadly.

I believe we can close my topic.

@rloktev yep, Chromium has moved from a 6-weeks release cycle to a 4-weeks one with version 94, so V 4.3 was this time "forced" to come out 2 weeks earlier, hence it's a bit more buggy than before, but more secure. They do have more time improving it now though and 4.4 will be much better I believe, if they will stay on the -new as well- 8-weeks "extended stable" cycle (basically skipping a Chromium's version but receiving security patches from upstream).
Also, no need to close, a mod can merge the thread with the existing one.

It's why they get paid the big bucks.
yep, that's why I didn't write "can easily merge"

This is Authenticator's maintainer. We have noticed lots of Vivaldi users report the extension crashed in Vivaldi browser. Though, Vivaldi is not officially supported, we would like to help to solve this issues ASAP to avoid blocking users for longer.
However, as an extension developer, I cannot get any error detail about the crash in Vivaldi. The extension just stops working and a simple popup says the extension has been crashed.
If Vivaldi team can provide more detail error, and there is a workaround to fix this issue, we are happy to update the extension.

there was a Vivaldi update, but the app still doesn't work.

//edit: internal 4.4.2460 got the fix, no crash. Stay tuned for some next Snapshot or Stable.
