Solved Drag and dropping attachments does not work in 4.3
-
So I updated to 4.3 and drag and dropping attachments does not work. When I try dragging it, the field when one enters texts is higlighted blue and says "Drop file(s) here" but when I drop them, nothing happens and they are not added. I am on Ubuntu 20.10 (I know, I should upgrade) and on Unity 7. Drag and dropping with other programs works. Anybody else with this issue?

So with Vivaldi 5.1, it finally works, thanks!

@felagund
There are some bugs in the drag and drop,
We know- it doesn't work in Mac
- it sometimes doesn't work on other platforms (can be a bit finicky)
Question though, does it work eventually if you try a few more times or does it never work?
It sometimes not working is known, but not every time. So if it doesn't work every then maybe you could make a bug report and link the attachment there?

Reported as VB-83505. It never works (tried 15 times with multiple files) and it does not matter which file I try (I tried multiple).

Tried with legacy Gnome (pre-Gnome Shell) with Metacity and Compiz as window managers and it behaved the same.
However, I managed to add attachments after when Vivaldi freezes after startup (VB-75742 When starting Vivaldi, it freezes in between 5 to 20 seconds after startup (with a large mailbox)), specificilly during the freeze after the blue progress bar in the mail panel finished . The browser was otherwise unresponsive, but it was registering the attachments and after it unfroze, they all appeared. No new attachments could be added by drag-and-dropping aafterwards though.

@gmg By the way, my issue still has not been fixed nad D'n'D of attachemnts does not work for me. My bug, VB-83505 is still unconfirmed as of today. As per my previous post, it seems to be some kind of a racing issue.

@felagund Nothing has changed for the drag and drop yet. No solution found yet, but being worked on.

I see, thanks for the info, I was a bit confused by the "unconfirmed" status.

BTW: I upgraded to Kubuntu 21.10 (and changed my Desktop enviroment from Unity 7 to KDE) and the problem still persists. Might it be related to me using a multimonitor setup (but it also happens when I use my laptop without the external monitors, so probably now).
At least the move solved my other issue:-) https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/66368/a-window-to-select-files-appears-in-the-background-behind-the-browser-under-unity-7-on-ubuntu-20-10
