Invalid server certificate

Vivaldi mail has stopped working in my email client and showing this in log files:
"!05/10/2021, 09:09:56: IMAP - TLS handshake failure. Invalid server certificate (This certificate has expired)."
Internet searches haven't turned up anything useful, or even telling me what it means, can anyone help? I can still access email from the web mail page. -

You are likely being affected by the expiry of the old Let's Encrypt root CA certificate. You didn't mention which email client you use, but depending on which it is, you either need to update your mail client, or you need to fetch updates for your operating system to receive the updated CA certificates.

Thanks, I am using The Bat! and just updated to 9.4.4 and also tried the link to letsencrypt.org to get a certificate and I am not getting the Invalid server certificate message any more but the log just shows a list of these entries now:
05/10/2021, 13:00:38: IMAP - Connecting to IMAP server mail.vivaldi.net on port 993
05/10/2021, 13:01:14: IMAP - Disconnected
I have also setup the account in vivaldi browser and it works but the vivaldi browser email is far from ideal, if it had a text only option or some better method of blocking all images I could live with it . -

Yes, other accounts in The Bat! are working and tried sending test messages to vivaldi account but they are not getting back to The Bat! but they do show in the web mail page and mail in vivaldi browser.
The Bat! was receiving vivaldi email up to Sept 29.
Just got a newsletter to the vivaldi account but not in The Bat! and if I do a manual mail check The Bat! shows Connecting to IMAP server mail.vivaldi.net on port 993 but no sign of any incoming.
So it looks like I will have to continue accessing vivaldi mail elsewhere. -
