@guigirl Only people who used computers more than 35 years will ever know.

Toronto Timex-Sinclair Users Group
I remember it fondly, I was a member for many years.

@greybeard Kind of a long trip from here (though I did have relatives in town). There was a computer shop with some Sinclair-related stuff in it I visited once, think that's where I actually got the ROM cartridge. The AERCO interface was a couple of years earlier from a computer show and swap meet in Dayton.
The AERCO interface came with an extra 64K of RAM, but it was bank-switched as the processor could only access 64K at a time. The Larken ROM could use some of that as kind of a RAM-disk, though one 8K block was used to copy the ROM. No idea what facilities a real Larken interface would have had beyond the obvious.
@guigirl, I wasn't aware bots had heads.

There must have been a new release. I can feel it. There were four pages in unread after going through notifications, instead of usual two.

RIP Sir Clive Sinclair, died Wednesday after a prolonged illness.

Likely Jon will have something to say as wel!, he mentioned having had a Sinclair at one time.

…but show me a combination of a gui toolkit and a language that work together & that i’ll be happy with.
Don’t redefine happiness, pls.

Using the uBO element picker, i can eliminate the bottom band, but then pay the price of losing the search.
You could use something like this if you don't mind sticking the sidebars to the top:
#SECDISPLAYAREAregion { overflow: visible; } #SECSEARCHregion { position: fixed; bottom: 0; padding: 10px 17px 28px 10px; }
-
@guigirl It’s also the sidebars that add the bad feeling.
-
Hmm, is someone extending our favourite init? It was definitely on their roadmap, anyway.
-
@guigirl You know systemd, don’t you? And it does a lot more than an init should, so it’s likely that the project in the linked thread is (going to be) part of the init as well.
Oh, and what triggered this thought – the name collision, of course.

Exactly whose nuclear subs do we gotta buy, anyway?
Ours of course

@guigirl Your desktop, or your computer? Given it is under KDE, I have to wonder ...
-
@guigirl Who said anything about Doris? I was asking about mine.
I'm not that imaginative I guess. My Linux laptop is named ToshibaLinux, and I haven't named the desktops on it. Yes, plural, for testing purposes I have KDE, XFCE and Enlightenment on it, though KDE is default.
-
@guigirl Quite well, though she wishes I let her stretch her legs more. My Windows machine is newer, bigger and faster, so "Toshie" doesn't get out to play except on my days off. In that sense I could probably remove the Windows partition on that machine - I only ever run Linux on it. Of course it came with Win 7 originally ...

Sometimes it’s fun here, innit? (& the number is still increasing)

@potmeklecbohdan o to the gm 🪦 Why would you let edits run berserk in your notifications? I disabled this as soon as it was introduced. There are people who edit the same post 7 times during 1 hour.
