(History of) Vivaldi Feature Requests
-
Thank You Pesala - the newest version has a session manager.
Here some new proposals :
Bookmarks should be opened with one click not a double click.
A new tabwindow should be able to open by click on a bookmark , address, history and a link in a side. -
The possibility to change the position of the webpanels. Also, the webpanels only be open when I start the Vivaldi when I use them (because I note in Task Manager they are active already when the browser is started.)

Hi,
I read the "monster topic" and it's very good! I will translate both of your posts into feature requests we can process internally. We are making this browser for you guys, remember?

Ah, so you guys DO read this topic? You probably even read every post of it.
It's good to hear that you guys hear us once in a while.

The panels can be moved to the right. They remember their last used state on restarting Vivaldi. Settings, Startup with last session

Even though there is a hibernate feature, if I hibernate all tabs except just one, it won't be in the same state as it was when I first opened the browser. It'll still take more RAM in the main process because it's been open for so long. Is this a Chromium problem?

It seems kind of silly that the title of the Speed Dial page remains "Speed Dial" when you use one of the links at the top to change to a differently named Speed Dial page or even to Bookmarks or History.
Can it be made so that the title changes accordingly? -
Yes

Windows and their tabs underneath indented (open<>collapsed) presented vertically.

I was saying about the sites added on panels. They are kept in order they were added and I would like to organize the position of them. And those sites are loaded together with the browser, i would like they were loaded only when I click on their webpanels. This would free more memory.

As the bookmark manager, the Notes panel should have an organization looked like, kinda organizing manually, by name, created/modified date.

- Click active TAB to Minimize
(ie.reveal previous tab, β¦and previous TAB... a.s.o. (Picture shows setting in Opera12))
On beta3, thanks - nice work!

Each snapshot I wait function to create more than 6 columns in speed dial! Every new snapshot I hope
, but don't understand, why Vivaldi ignore this feature. Why only 6? Why? I need more and I pretty sure not only me.
Actually maximum 6 columns in speed dial is only one feature that doesn't allow me to make Vivaldi as default browser, so my question for developers:
How many time we need to wait 10 or more columns in speed dial in future snapshots or stable versions? -
Keyboard shortcuts for existing functionality
- fast forward (suggest W key)
- go to previous page (suggest Q key)
Mouse gestures
- previous tab
- next tab
- fast forward
- go to previous page
Since its existing functionality, should be very easy to implement.
Thanks a lot. -
Add multitouch gesture. Similar to the mouse gestures but with touchpad. Two fingers left (backward), two fingers right (fordward), two fingers up (new page), two fingers down (reload).

@Livsnyter:
What I miss:
- Close all tabs in the right click menu
- Search in page, i'm used to have a search field next to address bar for searching a page
- Ad block, the one in Opera 12.17 almost never get detected from sites that prevent you from reading their stuff if you have a ad blocker installed
- Official portable version, no data stored on local machine. One of the reasons I still stuck with Opera 12.17
- Refresh page settings in right click menu
Really looking forward for:
- E-mail client
- Synchronizing
Really like Vivaldi
I miss exactly the same features
Eventually, I'd like to have a "search in page" field just like it Was in "old" (>12.17) Opera - I could customize my menu and "anchor" this field anywhere I wanted in any toolbar, so it was permanently visible. It was really useful. Do it Vivaldi Team and I permanently switch to Vivaldi browser

Session Manager
- The ability to pick and choose certain tabs from a saved session to open, and to add selected current tabs to a saved session.
- Someday, a session manager panel.
I guess that first suggestion will imply the possibility to save a section with only the selected tabs, not all of them. At least the possibility to save only the current window would be a plus. Current behaviour, as I see it, is not very useful for me. Most of the time I have multiple windows, each with a somewhat related group of tabs. Saving only a specific window's tab as a session would be nice.

The feature I have always liked most in OmniWeb was its workspaces. I could save a given set of open tabs as a "workspace" and even assign a keyboard shortcut to it. I would then create workspaces of related tabs, like ('news', 'sports', β¦) and switch through them using keyboard shortcuts.
The 'sessions' in Vivaldi already come quite close to this. The little bit that is missing might be actually pretty easy to add:
[ul]- Ability to assign keyboard shortcuts in order to switch to particular saved sessions
- Add an "auto-save" feature, so that whenever adding or closing a tab in a session this would not get lost after changing to another one
[/ul]

Tab behavior
When closing a tab: Add the option to activate the next tab (the tab to the right of the closed tab, just like opera 12 behavior)
New tab: Allow the user to specify a default site/url in new tabs instead of using speed dial.

Just playing with Vivaldi for a very short while (on a couple Linux Mint boxen). Looks very good.
A couple feature requests:
Proxy settings and support for SOCKS4 and SOCKS5 proxying. (I tried βproxy-server=127.0.0.1:1080 for proxying via an ssh connection. No go.)
New tab behaviour: Middle-button click and right-click->Open link in new tab should behave the same, or be configurable to do so, IMO.
I'll keep playing with it. Thanks for the browser!

it would be nice to have option to create new window by dragging tab outside of tabs panel
