(History of) Vivaldi Feature Requests

Is it possible to add saving a session that's in a private/incognito window?
A friend and I tend to use private window, open a bunch of tabs and then want to actually save those tabs but there's no practical solution to it in any browser. It would be great to use session manager to open 'em in a normal window.
Tried doing it today but session manager only saved the tabs which were in a normal window in the background.

- Option to place Add New Tab button [+] on a navigation bar
-
Drag to resize tiled tabs.
At first I didn’t think I’d make much use of the tiled tabs feature, but now I use it all the time, and I really wish I could redistribute the amount of space devoted to each tile, especially in grid view.

Dark theme improvements.
I think Firefox dark theme (built-in theme in FF dev. version) looks much better.Vivaldi dark theme

!!!! New Tab Next To Current. please.
now right click on link and selecting "open in new tab" creates new tab at the end of all tabs.
i'd like to have an option to open new tabs next to current -
I have started to use Vivaldi more and more all the time, but there's some small things I really miss when I'm using it. These probably has been requested before.
- Being able to drag tabs to new windows and also being able to drag tabs between windows.
- Quick search on sites using the addressbar. Like in chrome where I can write en.wikipedia.org to addressbar and press Tab and then I can do a quick search on wikipedia.
-
Also: need site-specific default zoom!
-
Some browsers let you change the tab name on a site-specific basis. This would be helpful! The default zoom and tab name could be stored with the bookmark.

Is it possible to get a indicator for a running download as well as the page load indicator on a tab?
-
Is it possible to get a indicator for a running download as well as the page load indicator on a tab?
There is such an indicator, built into the download icon in the side panel. There is a crawler in the little bar at the bottom of the icon.
-
It's way too slow! It appears to open up a new process for every tab. I want to have tabs available without having them running all the time. Firefox doesn't load the page associated with a tab until you try opening that tab; maybe Vivaldi could do that?
-
I'd like to see an optional indicator when an installed extension is not currently enabled. There are a couple extensions I routinely use that are actively updated, which means they're frequently getting disabled in the browser (due to permission changes I'd imagine). I never seem to notice until I'm at a site and want to use the extension…only to find it missing. Going to the extensions page and re-enabling it works, but I wish it was something I noticed at the beginning of the browser session. Maybe a way to keep the extension button in the toolbar but have it greyed out, when disabled?

Short,Sweet and to the point
*Allow right clicking on bookmarks to edit them
*Allow bookmark and extension syncing across chrome browsers
*Allow extensions to change the new tab page such as Infinity Tab
*Speed up the browsing experience and use less resources
*Easily open bookmarks by dragging them to the new tab area -
Really great work guys, keep it going.
A few thing I'm missing from the browser:
[ul]- Change the color of the panel to match with the light theme
- Ability to set the open panel to overlap the content instead of shrink it
- 16:9 images in speed dial and tab preview
Add text to speed dial (at least page title)
[/ul]

The speed dial title can be edited just by clicking on it

I'll write some things I would really love to see in the somewhat near future, some before final and some after:
Tabs
- The ability to set custom keyboard shortcuts for the tab cycler. The reason for this is because I would love to be able to go left and right through tabs in display order like I do now, but without having to activate hibernated tabs and skip them to go to the active tabs that I want. This would be really neat. Either this or you could give us a shadow selection box for each tab going to next and previous kind of like spatial navigation, but I'm just brainstorming here.
- The ability to hibernate tab stacks, and to hibernate individual tabs within tab stacks. Maybe for the latter, you could have it as a context menu button where the tab thumbnails are, where you select a tab thumbnail within a tab stack for the option to hibernate that specific tab.
- The option to open new tab next to active, and the options to go to tab on the right upon closing current tab, and to go to tab on the left upon closing current tab. Not sure why you guys removed the open new tab next to active instead of just providing options, and to not at least put it back in the next snapshot after that when the code for it was already written from before, but who knows(I'm no dev).
- Option in the context menu Close Tabs > Close Tabs on the Left - Close Tabs on the Right - Close Tabs from Current Domain - Close Tabs from Other Domain as options. Obviously as a separate option as Close Tab and Close Other Tabs, so a different naming scheme would probably be needed.
- To set tabs that go past the tab bar to have a scroll view like Firefox, and to be able to use the scroll wheel on my mouse to move left and right.
Panel
- A light theme would be awesome.
- A thinner panel would be great too. It's possible to fit those icons into a slightly thinner panel, taking up less screen real estate.
- An option to have a panel that changes color according the the website's theme would be awesome. It would blend into some websites really well, and would look cool.
- A History panel.
Address Bar
- I want the address bar to behave like Opera 35. I want it to autosuggest the main domain site of the frequently visited sites only, and then if you start typing beyond that with a /, then it should suggest the most frequently visited sub-domain site. I think most people want this. Vivaldi has progressed quite well already when it comes to the address bar autosuggestion, but there's more room for improvement, but I applaud you guys so far on the progress.
- To have the main domain text of the URL to be black, and the / and sub-domain URL to be grayed out like every other browser.
- The ability to move and remove buttons.
- I would love it if the V logo's background were to change color with the website theme or just be a plain white V. Would make tabs at the bottom thing I have look better and more seamless with more websites.
- To have a Bug Report option in the menu under Help.
Search Bar
- The option to have my search input be erased after entering it in the search bar, so that once I entered it, there's no text still there. This means I can continue entering things away without having to backspace my last search, and even if I didn't have to search for more things, it would be nice to not have to backspace my text after entering it in anyway. I'm not sure why every browser has gone years without thinking of doing this, because it would be very convenient and it's one of the biggest things stopping me from using the search bar.
- The option to have all my searches be entered into a new tab, not the current one. This and my first request on the search bar would make me use the search bar ALL the time! That would be awesome, and I would love it if that was possible to add before the final.
- Eventually an autosuggestion for different search engines. I can't imagine this being easy or quick to implement, so I won't make it an urgent request, and it's not super important, but would be amazing.
- Instead of typing g dogs to search for dogs in Google(I think that's how you do it), I would like the behavior to change to me clicking down to see the list of search engines, typing the nickname letter for the selected search engine, have the list pop back up and the search engine focused and ready to search in my selected search engine.
Speed Dial
- To have more websites with Vivaldi's Speed Dial aesthetics: Gmail, Reddit, Dropbox, Google Drive, Amazon, YouTube(I know they have a thumbnail but I can't set it), Netflix, Soundcloud, etc. etc. Any popular site, basically.
- To have non-Vivaldi aesthetic thumbnails be generated with some complimentary design text like Opera does, and even give the option to have the non-Vivaldi aesthetic thumbnails be generated with just the favicon plus a background color that compliments that favicon(kind of like the website theme).
Session Manager
- The ability to pick and choose certain tabs from a saved session to open, and to add selected current tabs to a saved session.
- Someday, a session manager panel.
Settings
- Sometimes when I want to assign a new keyboard shortcut, but it's already taken, it would be nice if there was a prompt asking me if I want to replace the taken keyboard shortcut and assign it to the action I'm trying to assign it to. Opera 35 does this and it would be awesome if Vivaldi did so as well. It's very convenient and I wouldn't have to manually change the taken keyboard shortcut myself.
- To have a preview text laid out beside the font selection under Webpages, just like Opera 35 does.
- To have a hardware acceleration setting.
Misc.
- For different :about pages( about:flags, about:downloads, etc. etc.) that are usually used by a lot of users to be redesigned with Vivaldi's design.
- Better font rendering someday.
- To replace the garbage can icon in the notes and bookmarks panel to the same one the tab bar uses for the garbage can icon. That one just looks so much better, and it would improve design consistency.
- I would like the mouse cursor to disappear during fullscreen videos, and for fullscreen video toggle animations to be not so laggy, like Opera 35 does it, to be able to enjoy videos much better.
- More animations, like when opening new tabs, and maybe when closing tabs. When I was playing with Opera 35 for a while and came back to Vivaldi, I noticed it didn't have as many tab animations like this as Opera.
- Reader mode like Firefox(never tried Safari's), and would be an awesome reader mode. FF's is open source so maybe you can fork it.
- To have a preview display of zoom level when using keyboard shortcuts to zoom in and out, especially when you don't have the status bar on.
- A vertical tab list preview as an option separate from the tab cycler preview we currently have. Also, maybe an option for both vertical tab list and a tab preview beside it.
Thanks guys! And I'm looking forward to seeing how things are polished up for the first version of the browser, and the continuation of features and design progression!

Close all tabs to the right
I've been using Vivaldi as my main browser for a few weeks now, and I'm happy with it. There's just one thing I miss - and I think because it's a browser for powerusers I won't be the only one: the ability to close all tabs to the right of the tab you're on. I have five tabs I always keep open, but when I've been surfing for some time and I have twelve tabs opened after a while, I'd like to be able to close all tabs except those five.
Keep up the good work!
