Google Meet says Unsupported Browser
-
Hello,
first post here. Thanks for your great work with Vivaldi.
I have a small question: Google Meet refuses to load, and says that my browser is unsupported. I am seeing lots of other questions about Google Meet here, and it looks like everyone else is allowed to use it. Are you doing anything special to make it work?
Thanks.
Using: 4.0.2312.33 (Stable channel) stable (64-bit) on Ubuntu 21.04.

@pallade I can login to Google Meet with Vivaldi 4.0.2312.38 on Ubuntu 20.
But i can not say whats wrong i your case, i can not read your language.
Do you have installed a privacy extension? Some send a wrong browser user-agent to disable tracking and leads to Google's error.

@pallade Check Settings/Privacy - Google Extensions
You probably need to allow/activate "Crypto Token" to use Google Services!
For Google Meet, possibly also Hangouts (I'm unsure about this). -
@DoctorG I have Privacy Badger and uBlock Origin, but I disabled them both. The result is the same.
The error message in the screenshot just says: "Meet is not compatible with your browser yet". The rest are instructions about how to otherwise access the meeting or to download another browser.
@TbGbe Crypto token is already enabled in the Privacy settings.

Bump?
I updated to 4.0.2312.41 but I am still redirected to the Unsupported page.
(This one: https://meet.google.com/unsupported?meetingCode=landing&ref=https://meet.google.com/landing )
I tried to switch UA using the Google extension, but nothing changes...

@pallade
Hi, something on you system blocks Meet, is working fine here.Can you login to google.com at all?
Disable extensions is sometimes not enough, try with a guest profile.https://help.vivaldi.com/article/guest-view/

@tannaberton yes if you can just drop Meet and Google then you are fine. Problem solved.
Unfortunately I am using this for work and I can't just say: use something else.
So at the moment I need to run those things in Firefox. There it all works correctly.
I also noticed that the unsupported stuff comes up when I am logged in as a Google Workspace account. If I use a standard Gmail account, then it works correctly.
