"Opening mail DB" message
-
I tried adding both my Gmail and iCloud accounts to Vivaldi Mail. However, the mail never loads. I get following message in the bottom bar of the browser:
"Opening mail DB - This may take time if upgrades are due..."
But nothing happens. Is there a way to fix this.
Thanks!

I have the same problem

Same here
-
Same here. Appeared after trying to add an RSS feed to the feed reader. Still there after latest update to 4.1.2355.3 (Official Build) (64-bit).

Same here, on Linux.
Discovered a Vivaldi process that had been running for a Long Time, that was still present even with Vivaldi closed. Killing that process seems to have fixed the problem here.

Same here. But it's the first time I tried to add an email account to Vivaldi Mail.
Also, it seems like the email account was added correctly but, besides the "opening mail DB" messagge I can't send any message from the account (I can click send but nothing happens) and if I check my email account from the settings, then I see no accounts.
It's like the account was not fully added into Vivaldi Mail and it is still stuck somewhere.
PS: I'm on Win 10, Vivaldi x64 and I tried to add a GMail account with a different domain/login (it's my workplace account and I had to use OAuth).
EDIT: actually I see no email account from the Tools >> settings >> mail but I can see the email address I added if i click the mail icon in the status bar (bottom of the window). Still nothing it's working: can't send, can't see mail, nothing. Message "opening mail DB" is still up.

Have you been successfully using the mail client before this started happening or has this blocked you from using it from the beginning? We'd like to figure this out and prevent this from happening so any details would be appreciated.
In any case it seems that something has gone wrong with the data, you could try the steps listed here, https://forum.vivaldi.net/post/430746, and see if that helps. This effectively removes all email related data and lets you start from scratch.
[Edit] I'll just paste the steps in here:
- Start vivaldi and go to mail settings and remove all mail accounts.
- Shut down vivaldi.
- Go to profile directory and find folder "Default/Storage/ext/mpognobbkildjkofajifpdfhcoklimli/def/IndexedDB" and delete it .
- Start vivaldi and set the mail accounts up again.

This was the first time I tried to use Vivaldi Mail.
I actually just switched from the 32 bit to the 64 bit version of Vivaldi since I'm a long time user. I uninstalled the 32bit one and took the occasion of the fresh install (64bit version) to try out Mail and Calender but I got stuck on the first e-mail account I tried to add. -
This happening on a fresh install is odd. Where you perhaps using the 64bit version on your old 32bit profile..?
-
no I had the 32 bit version and I just swapped yestarday to the 64 bit one and I never tried mail on the 32 bit version.

@gudmundurg74 I was successfully using the mail client for about a month before that happened.
-
@gudmundurg74 I have proceeded to the steps you posted and my mail is working again. And strangely, there was no need to set up accounts again, they just already here and working.

Is this really a complete procedure to remove any hint of past mail actions and to start from scratch?
What about the two files "MailDB" and "MailDB-journal" in the root of the Default folder?I can't affort much time to play around but was unsuccesfully struggling to start mail and feed from scratch after starting using mail and feed as soon as they were available. I'm on Windows with latest snapshots.

It looks like deleting the folder "%localappdata%/vivaldi/user data/default/storage/ext/mpognobbkildjkofajifpdfhcoklimli" also worked for me as a fix
And, as the other user was reporting and I didn't need to add the email account again. It just unlocked and started to working.

Right, I failed to mention that the account info is stored elsewhere. Only pure mail data, messages and headers from servers and generated metadata, is stored in this DB.

@gudmundurg74 i reinstalled vivaldi a week ago, and this started happening
i don't care about mail, but i do care about my rss feeds
now they are all gone, or are they? if i search in mail, it still shows how many results there are, but it doesn't show the results themselves
i deleted that folder, and it still shows results, and the permanent message in the status bar is gone... just kidding, it's just changed from "opening mail db" to mail client starting"
what should i do next? thanks
