Unreadable text in page with inverted colors
-
The "invert" thing is still bad, for some sites. Unreadable text in page with inverted colors still happen. In this case, it is something which seems to be much basic: an edit box (in my opinion, I would prefer to have all form parts contents with colors chosen by us, users, in a few - new - Vivaldi setting).
-
Click on the "strange symbols" buttons to write anything. It should look similar to https://imgbox.com/zTcKeCsR
-
On Vivaldi status bar, click "Page actions" > "Invert filter". Now, it should look like this: https://imgbox.com/AGgeF5u1 Where are the symbols in the form? No, the page or the form was not reset (like happens in some sites, when I ask to invert colors - but this is another issue).
-
The symbols can be seen if we select them, like this: https://imgbox.com/ymakG1Ll
Bug report? Maybe someone wants to do this. I prepared this post to be one. Hopefully, it will be close, if any needed detail is missing.
Thank you,
Happy Vivaldi User (:

@dedeco You can create your own version and make a page action from it. Such a file can be placed inside the application and will work just like a regular page action. Filter invert is generally not a good idea to generate a dark version of a page. You should look at alternatives like the inbuilt Reader Mode, a dark reader extension or the chrome flag for forcing dark mode.

"Create own version"? I am lost with what you mean here.

Inside which application? Vivaldi?

Well, it is what I mostly use. In a previous Vivaldi version, the reader mode wrecked the page style, positions of things, and did not have a good result, for this.
Another subject, maybe it is sort of what you suggest: there is a "black and white filter". Why not an "white and black filter" also exists?? It seems a very simple thing to do (but I cannot do it). There is also "grey scale filter", about which I say something: most pages are more brighter than darker, so converting all colors to grey will give a brighter result. Why not making a "dark grey scale filter", which basic idea is literally inverting the result of "grey scale filter"? Finally, there is "sepia filter". Sepia? Sepia is <u>dark</u> brown! (no underline here? ) All the times I checked a page with sepia filter, it was very very light.

@dedeco If you cannot do it, then it’s probably not such a simple matter after all…
Page actions are nothing but a folder containing Javascript and CSS files inside the Vivaldi application, which are accessible through the status bar and through quick commands and inject code into webpages, not unlike extensions or userscripts. You can add your own actions or edit existing ones. Doesn’t seem like you would want to handle this though. You can make a formal request for a change to the current page actions in the feature request section and then wait whether Vivaldi will introduce your proposed changes, or/and in the meantime you simply install an extension which makes your webpages dark, which is the most casual and straightforward way to address your current needs (e.g. https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/dark-reader/eimadpbcbfnmbkopoojfekhnkhdbieeh?hl=en-US).

What is Sepia in Photography?
Underlining looks like a link, although it is not a link, so it is best to disable it on forums.
User Styles
I use this one to brighten videos that are too dark:
video { filter: brightness(150%) !important; }
Save the text as, e.g. "Video_Brightness.css" (no spaces allowed) in the user_files folder for the Vivaldi Application:

@dedeco , I use Dark Mode in flags AND Dark Reader extensions. I know that Drk Mode flags don't work well in some pages, but in this cases Dark Reader fix it.
Your page only with Dark Mode flags
also enabled the Dark Reader extension apart from the Dark Mode flags
Dark Reader is a good complement for Dark Mode flags. Exception, here in the forum, if you use the forum extensions, this gives weired results with the Dark Reader enabled.

The photos in this page are not clear, as the pages get when we apply the sepia filter. In fact, the page colors are clear, although not based on white. But it is not based on sepia, but in something much lighter. Using the inverted colors action to read the page is much even (this is how i read it), and the photos are very nice, with this darker style.
