No settings in Linux Mint 20.1
-
Unable to open settings with icon or cntrl-f12. HP laptop.

@gwen-dragon Thanks for the quick response. I'm using a laptop with no other monitors.
-
@goefelein For now, create a bookmark to
vivaldi://settings
and put it on your Bookmark Bar, or give it a nickname and type that in the URL field.Opening Settings in a Tab will allow it to open normally.

fwiw, I'm now running Linux Mint 20.1 MATE (64-bit) with vivaldi 4 on four machines (two desktops, two laptops) but only seeing this behavior on one of the laptops. The laptop that is affected is a low powered asus 'netbook' (model: 1015 p44) where settings will not open by clicking on the gear icon or using Ctrl+F12.
Opening vivaldi 4 from the teminal on this asus laptop and clicking on the settings icon or doing the 'Ctrl+F12' keypress yields no errors in the terminal window.
And yes, 'vivaldi://settings' does open settings in a tab.
idk?

@pesala Thanks for the suggestion. That allowed me to get to settings.
I checked my keyboard shortcuts and nothing else appears to be assigned to cntrl-f12 but this gives me a work-around. Thanks!

@gwen-dragon To the best of my knowledge, nothing else is using cntrl-f12. I checked Mint keyboard shortcuts and other browser shortcuts. The settings icon doesn't work, either.

@juanvase Thanks for the suggestion. I now have a settings icon in my left-hand panel.

This might be obvious...but?
I notice on the one laptop in which I'm seeing this issue, if I change/tick/enable the setting: 'Settings|Appearance|Windows Appearance|"Open Settings in Tab"' ... Afterwards, clicking on the settings gear icon or using keypress 'Ctrl+F12' opens 'Settings' in a new tab as expected.
So, another possible workaround for those who are experience this issue at the moment. fwiw.

@martywd That fixed my problem -- no more work-arounds! Thanks, Marty!

FYI, an update to: vivaldi-stable 4.0.2312.27 has fixed this issue for me on the laptop mentioned previously. I.e., clicking on the 'Settings' gear icon or using keypress 'Ctrl+F12' or opening from the menu 'File|Settings' once again opens 'Settings' in a new window (when NOT configured to 'Open settings in Tab').
That was a quick fix by the Vivaldi team. Thanks all!
