Solved Youtube video lagging
-
The drivers are the same.
The weird thing is i tried Chrome at the same time Vivaldi had problems, but Chrome didn't have the issue.
-
That I understand. I'm just happy the problem is resolved
️ but I still think it's weird, would think it's the same calls to the driver for the same video with same settings?
-
@gwen-dragon Well, something with the driver fixed the issue.
As I've stated before, I had both Vivaldi and Chrome installed at the same time on the same machine. When streaming YT videos Vivaldi had issues, but Chrome didn't.
Driver cleanup, with standalone program from AMD, fixed Vivaldi, my question now is why would streaming YT videos with Chrome work as expected, but Vivaldi needed me to clean drivers to get a smooth experience?
But, I agree, the issue seems to be resolved atm. I'm just curious as to why it happened

@falck , one reason may be that YT is owned by Google and lags all other which don`t use certain Google APIs.
-
We already know the "benefits" of Google's business policy and its commitment that everyone uses Chrome, or in its defect Firefox (also owned by Google.)
I don't think it's because of the codecs, since there is no problem viewing the videos on CloudTube or FreeTube in the same format. -
Hi @catweazle, am I mistaken that you think Google owns Firefox?
My heart skipped a beat when I read thatI know they have an agreement (and money is paid so) that Firefox uses Google Search as it's default search engine, but that's where it ends - Mozilla owns Firefox, and you can change the default search engine on Firefox if you want
-
@jamesyjames , sadly true, simply entering Mozilla, to download FF, they put a tracker from Alphabet INC, a Google advertising company, FF also uses various Google APIs.
Moreover, in TOS DR an account in FF receives category D (the worst), the same as Google and Fakebook.
Everyone talks about using a de-googled Chromium, but no one about using a de-googled FF, or fork, believing that because it is OpenSource it is more private or secure.
Chromium is FOSS and also the APIs from Google, Facebook and Amazon, included in a lot of OpenSource apps -
@catweazle aawww mannnn
, thanks for the heads-up. Feels like such a constant battle trying to keep my privacy rights. More and more it seems like monopolies are just getting too dictatorial.
At this point I'm almost willing to roll back to an older pc backup to see if I can get V or CT working well, just concerned that my pc is old and I don't feel like dealing with issues that could arise.
Did you say you use CT on V? -
@jamesyjames CloudTube? yes, also yewtube, another privacy front-end of YT, if one of them fails, some public instances can fail ocasionally.
In browsers I prefer, apart from Vivaldi, others made in Europe, they are better in privacy because the EU privacy norm, which don't exist in the US and less in China (Opera) -
Found the setting that makes video lag!
It's the Radeon Anti-Lag feature, ironically! When enabled youtube lags! When disabled it's smooth!
