Built-in Bookmark Syncing
-
I use Vivaldi on both Windows and Linux and it is annoying that my bookmarks and info can't be synced. Will this feature be coming to Vivaldi soon?

You can import/export html bookmarks at the moment – everything else might come later. But yeah, there is no sync like in opera or chrome.

Hard to say just when that will be ready. The Team has made it clear that it's one of their priorities, but not only does the code for it have to be written into the browser from scratch, but a server farm to handle the data from millions of users must also be built.

I will say, however, that as constitutionally opposed as I am to extensions (to the point that if there is any way at all NOT to use them, I won't), XMarks extension is working perfectly to keep my bookmarks synced across machines and across platforms.

I think that at present it's better to have a "cloud service" bookmark manager, that could be accessed from every browser and every device (also phones). So services like XMarks, Delicious, and similar other, are a good choice, and I think that the build-in bookmark syncing is not an urgent priority.
If only Delicious would work in web panel, this would be good for me:

@Gwen-Dragon:
The developers and even Jon von Tetzchner is aware that sync is needed.
But the browser has to get a stable final before sync can be added.
And a large server farm has be set up for sync, that takes much resources.I came to this thread looking for synchronization of bookmarks. Vivaldi doesn't have to run a server. Do like a number of apps do these days, use the cloud like Google Drive. Stored the data on encrypted on the cloud and periodically sync. Cost to Vivaldi: $0.
I use an Android and Chrome extension called Join that does this, and it's not the only one.

First of all, I am new at Vivaldi, an old opera user that found hope on Vivaldi. THANKS everybody. Even before the last 'Thank you post' I am spreading the word from day 2 of Vivaldi experience :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:
I am not a big fan of extensions as well, but XMarks is working for me. Thanks for the reference.

Just use rsync to sync the bookmark file

That's something like built-in rsync on steroids. :cheer:
